Tokyo Marui – MAC 10 Full Set

Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: AEP

Tokyo Marui – MAC 10 Full Set

The Tokyo Marui – MAC 10 Full Set is the latest AEP (Automatic Electric Pistol) offering from Tokyo Marui. I’ve been impressed since the release of the VZ61 Skorpion in the build quality and attention to detail of these lower powered AEPs.

Tokyo Marui – MAC 10 – Trademark Closeup

The Mac 10 Full Set comes with the following:

  • Tokyo Marui – Mac 10 AEP
  • 65 Round Magazine
  • 7.2 volt Battery
  • Battery Charger
  • 14mm thread protector
  • Front Hand Strap
  • Foam Filled Silencer

Tokyo Marui – MAC 10 – All Options Installed

But unlike the previous TM AEP, the VZ61 Skorpion that came with an all metal lower receiver, the TM Mac has only a few metal parts: muzzle, hand strap adaptor, magazine, trigger, safety switch and extendable stock. It’s not that disappointing though since the Mac 10 itself weighs in at 3 lbs and with silencer and magazine over 5 lbs. A real MAC 10 weight 6 lbs unloaded.

Tokyo Marui – MAC 10

TM designers again did an ingenious design job on how and where to access the battery. FPS results are similar to other TM AEP’s

Kreb’s Custom – Fore-End Grip Adapter

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Kreb’s Customs, (USA)
Type:External Body Add-on

KCI – Fore-End Grip Adapter

I was a brief, proud owner of a GWS – Offset Vertical Grip, but fortunately Kreb’s started production of a new and improved AK offset grip. Luckily I was able to score 1 too.

KCI – Fore-End Grip Adapter

This new Krebs version is just an offset, canted rail adapter. It also integrates a forward sling attachment point and liek teh original has a well desinged for use with a tactical light.

KCI – Fore-End Grip Adapter

Like the orignal Krebs AK grip, the offset aspect of the grip allows for an AK-47 style magazine to be released and pushed forward for removal.

Maxpedition – Monkey Combat Admin Pouch

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Maxpedition (USA)
Type: Pouch

Maxpedition – Monkey Combat Admin Pouch

The MAXPEDITION Monkey Combat Admin Pouch, was designed by MilspecMonkey and manufactured by Maxpedition. Bellow you will see a VERY detailed description of the Monkey Combat Admin Pouch and its’ features. While it may seem like alot, this little chest pouch is full of features.

If you are interested in purchasing an MCAP, please consider buying from MilspecMonkey direct.

MAXPEDITION Monkey Combat Admin Pouch – by MilspecMonkey

  • Overall: 7" x 6.5" x 1.5"
  • Rear Sleeve: 7" x 5.5"
  • Main: 6" x 6" x 1"
  • Middle Security: 6" x 6"
  • Frontal: 6" x 5" x 0.5"
  • Mini Frontal: 5" x 2"
  • ID Area: 5" x 4.5"

I’ve had this design cooking for probably over a year and I’m happy to announce it is finally here. In collaboration with Maxpedition, this will be my first public release design. I knew I could count on Maxpedition to make these with exceptional quality using their hard-use gear standards. The main Idea behind the pouch is to find a balance of size for an admin pouch. I was unhappy with the other admin pouches I had tried that were too small or too long in one dimension. The Monkey Combat Pouch allows storage of up to 6 multitool sized items, but still leaves room for proper shoulder stocking of one’s weapon. It lays fairly compact and flat when empty, but is ready to expand to suit your needs.

Core functionality begins with the main flap. The outside is covered with loop velcro for your patch / ID needs. The inside of the flap has a good panel of hook to allow the flap to accommodate the pouch when empty or full. The flap itself has a sleeve pocket that goes down the back of the main pocket. It works well for additional out-of-the-way organization of slim items. The main pocket has 1.5" depth and has elastic on the front and back sides with 3 divisions each. The user can fill these out or use the preferred side. The elastic division spacing works great for pistol magazines, chem lights, flashlights, multitools, and more. The pocket itself can hold many diverse items such as 2, 30 round NATO magazines vertically, gloves, GPS units, handcuffs, pens + small notebooks, the list just goes on. A grommet is included for drainage.

The next pocket is the slim high security pocket. The top is fully sealed with velcro and has 2 staggered pull tabs. This area can be hard to open sometimes, but is designed as such to make sure the user can have full confidence they can store crucial items inside. Money, cards, keys, and batteries are just a few examples of appropriate items for this pocket.

Moving forward is the frontal pocket. This area has .5" depth and elastic webbing on the back side with 3 divisions like on the main pocket. 3 multitool sized items can fit or medium thickness items such as cell phones and PDAs. The frontal pocket can be used to hold the smaller items more securely or to help divide items that would have all fit in the main pocket, but would be banging around. A short pocket is connected to the Front pocket which came out as a freebie in the pouch construction. Smaller items like chap-stick can be placed here to make them more easily accessible since they lay higher up in the pouch instead of at the bottom.

Another feature setting the Monkey Combat Pouch apart from the rest is the unique ID flap. Although at first glance, one may want to pull up on the pull tab, the tab is pulled down to open. A clear vinyl sleeve with anti-glare texture allows placement for 2 IDs, a mini map, ballistic sheet, HVT pictures, or whatever slim item one wants to put in there. The folding of the pocket naturally makes 2 divisions, but there is only one opening to deal with. When the flap is closed, the goods are velcro sealed securely inside. This allows the user to quickly flash their ID or view intel when needed, then go back to business being fully concealed. The way the ID flap is stitched to the pouch creates a cave area where items can be stored. A flashlight, beatstick, or knife fit in here well for quick access, but low security. Alternatively slim paper documents can be hidden inside as well.

The back has larger than usual PALS channels to allow the user to fudge between using 3 or 4 PALS channels to mount using 2 long Malice Clips. Although this pouch was made with intent to be chest mounted on one’s kit, it can also function well as a general multipurpose / organizer pouch on other locations and gear. It is slim enough to mount on the side of a vest, and works well on backpacks and shoulder bags with PALS webbing.

For extra designer notes:

  • The main flap length was a challenge. It won’t be perfect for every situation, but is a balance of length to close when the pouch is filled, but not too long to be a hassle to deal with then opening.
  • The pull tabs of the slim middle pocket can be used to assist in holding down items in the front of the main pocket or back of the frontal pocket.
  • When 30 round NATO magazines are stored in the main pocket, the pouch can’t hold much else and still be able to close the main flap.
  • Pens can be held on the outside using the side elastic and the exterior or interior elastic can be used for lanyard connection points.

The Monkey Combat pouch is available in Maxpedition’s great colors of Khaki, ACU, Green, and Black. Check out MilSpec Monkey’s video demo for a full breakdown:

Vanaras – 3x Magnifier w/ QD Twist Mount

{simplegrade:3}
Manufacturer: Vanaras, (China)
Type: Optics

Valaras – 3x Magnifier w/ QD Twist Mount

The Valaras – 3x Magnifier w/ QD Twist Mount is a replica of the Aimpoint 3x Magnifier w/ QD Twist Mount. Physically it’s build is a metal 30mm tube with rubber armored cover and Aimpoint trademarks. It’s a great facsimile of the original. The QD Twist Mount is also a spot on replica and functions well. It comes with windage and elevation adjustments even though it has no reticle. It does adjust the reticle of whatever reddot sight you choose to use.

Valaras – 3x Magnifier w/ QD Twist Mount

All the pieces fit pretty tightly together. There is a bit of play in the QD Twist Mount though, but that doesn’t effect performance. The glass used is surprisingly clear, but unfortunately eye relief is pretty bad. The Valaras replica has about a 1" -1.5" inch eye relief. Real Aimpoint 3x’s have up to a 2.5" Eye relief. The QD Twist Mount works well, but you have to remove the magnifier entirely to clear your red dot sight. This QD Twist Mount is relatively low and meant to work with a standard "L" style 30mm mount. You will need risers for it to work with a cantilever type of mount or an EOTech.

Hendsholt 1.5x Magnifier w/ Larue Side Flip Mount, Top
Valaras – 3x Magnifier w/ QD Twist Mount, Bottom.

I also own a Hendsholt 1.5x Magnifier on a Larue Side Flip Mount and was planning to use the Valaras on the Larue Side Flip mount, but the Hendsholt Magnifier has much better eye relief and optics. I also prefer the over all higher height of the Larue setup.

Side by Side Setups

On my EOTech 511, I’m using the Larue ESOC-C Mount, which has a built in riser to the rear of the mount and it accommodate the QD Twist Mount perfectly.

GWS – Offset Vertical Grip

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: GWS, (Hong Kong)
Type:External Body Add-on

GWS – Offset Vertical Grip

The GWS – Offset Vertical Grip is a replica of the Kreb’s Custom Offset Vertical grip they design for use on the BHI SOPMOD AK. For a few years now I’ve been trying to buy the real Kreb’s grip, but I never was able to find 1 for sale and sadly it seems they’ve been discontinued. Luckily GWS made a replica of the Krebs Grip recently, and even though I had a bad experience with GWS‘ parts already, I had to add this for the price.

GWS – Offset Vertical Grip with Surefire sharing the same rail

The build is all plastic with metal allen screws. This grip mounts to the side rail which aids in AK47 magazine removal (See Below). You’ll notice the "C" cutout on the side of the grip. This accommodate the use of a Tactical Light on the same side rail and the positioning of the tail cap switch near your thumb.

GWS – Offset Vertical Grip – Full View

The offset aspect of the grip allows for an AK-47 style magazine to be released and pushed forward for removal. With a normal vertical grip on the bottom rail, the more curved AK47 magazines will sometimes hit the grip during removal.

Craft Apple Works – M1014 Shotgun

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Craft Apple Works (Japan)
Type: Spring Pump Shotgun
Date Acquired: 01/2008

CAW – M1014 Shotgun

The CAW – M1014 Shotgun, is modeled after the The M1014, Joint Service Combat Shotgun, used my the U.S. Marine Corps. The Real M1014 is the military version of the Benelli M4, which is a semi auto, 12 gauge shotgun.

The CAW – M1014 Shotgun is pump action, unlike the real M1014 and typical to most CAW replicas, mostly made of plastic. The replica itself is visually accurate. It comes standard with the upper rail, Ghost Ring sights, pistol grip, sliding stock and 29 round magazine.

CAW – M1014 Shotgun

The CAW – M1014 Shotgun is a single pump, single bb, type of shotgun and has fixed hop-up. Chrono results form Hong kong retailer websites are stating 260 fps with .20 bb’s, but for some reason this specific M1014 shoots a little higher. Luckily there doesn’t seem to be any ill effects from the fixed hop-up.

MagazineParts.com – P90 Magazine Clamp

{simple grade:3}
Manufacturer: MagazineParts.com (USA)
Type: Magazine Clamp

MagazineParts.com – P90 Magazine Clamp

I saw this unique magazine clamp device in ARM’s Magazine, Nov 2007, in one of their Real Steel articles. I really liked the unique look of using this device and at $29.00, it was affordable.

Unfortunately I purchased this before I read my buddy Shinden’s (Poweredge Hawaii) post about the TM P90 magazines being taller then the Real Steel P90 magazine. So I needed to make notches in the TM P90 magazines. It’s not a task for a Dremel, but fortunately a drill press, and some patience did the trick.

A few more tidbits o’ info.

Trigger Happy – M240

Deceptively light at around 10 lbs, but rock solid in build, the Trigger Happy M240 is an awesome AEG. It utilizes the VFC MK43 gearbox and shoots around 360 fps with .20’s.

Take down and features operate very closely to how a real M240 breaks down. Barrel assembly is easily removed to give acces to an anodized hop-up dial.

Tokyo Marui – Detonics

I’ve never been a big fan of compact handguns, but since it’s a Tokyo Marui and a new release, it was worth checking out.

I was suprised to see how compact the TM Detonics is compared to the Marushin Detonics.. The TM version is tiny.

It was a cooler evening in Socal and this chrono’d around 265 fps on Green Gas.

Maruzen – MP5K Charger

Open bolt gas blow back fun… But 134a only if you want to keep it reliable.

With 134a it single shot at around 220fps. Full auto it dropped down to 180fps ;(
