Magpul PTS/KWA – FPG Complete

Manufacturer: Magpul PTS (Hong Kong) KWA (USA)
Type: GBB

Magpul PTS – FPG Complete

This is the complete version of the Magpul PTS FPG (Folding Pocket Gun), which is built complete by KWA. Previously Magpul PTS only sold the FPG as a kit.

Real Steel Information

The Magpul FMG was inspired by the earlier Ares FMG. The Ares FMG was based on a Mac-10 where the Magpul FMG is based off Glock internals.

Ares FMG – Seen in Robocop

Airsoft Version

Magpul PTS and KWA worked together to build a complete FPG. The Original FPG kit was built to use a KSC or KWA Glock 18c for its’ internal parts, so the partnership was a natural match.

Magpul PTS – FPG Complete

Magpul PTS – FPG Complete

The complete FPG comes with an extended outer and inner barrel which were not available for people who purchased the FPG Kit. It comes with the low profile selector switch and magazine floor plate installed, and includes a 49 round long magazine.

Same performance as a KSC/KWA Glock 18c with slightly higher FPS due to the longer inner barrel.

G&P – CQB/R AEX Edition Package

Manufacturer: G&P (Hong Kong)
Type: AEG

G&P – CQB/R AEX Edition Package

With the amount of M4 style, Type II gearbox AEG’s in the market, what makes the G&P – CQB/R AEX Edition a standout from all the others? It’s being sold as a unique package. We’ve all seen the Chinese Clone Bundles and Sportline Value packs, where Battery and Charger are included. But this G&P take it 1 step up from other Beginner packages. I would consider this package almost an Intermediate package, than something for Beginners. Most of the add-ons included are considered upgrades.

Package includes:

  • G&P – AEX Branded Metal Body
  • G&P – Jungle Series CQB/R (Free-Float) Kit(GP249)
  • G&P – M120 High Speed Motor (GP561)
  • G&P – 8mm Bearing Complete Gerabox Set (Back, Dean Connector) (GP857C)
  • G&P – 1 Piece, Metal Hop Up Unit (GP083)
  • G&P – M16 Magazine (130rds) (GP094)
  • G&P – Crane Stock Battery 7.2volt, 2300 Mah
  • G&P – Battery Charger with Deans Connector
  • G&P – Military Type 30mm Red Dot Sight (GP121)
  • G&P – Military 600m Flip Up Rear Sight (GP254)
  • G&P – RIS Vertical Fore Grip (Black) (GP033)
  • G&P – RIS Rail Cover (Black) x 2 (GP032B)
  • G&P – Deans Connector Wire Set For Recharge
  • Manual

G&P – CQB/R AEX Edition Package

External Appearance and Feel

G&P has been long known as manufacturing some well built external parts. Visually all laser etchings look great with a good matte black base. Unique to this model is the AEX logo and related marking. The AEG weighs around 7.5 lbs with magazine and optics attached. Very solid feel with no rattling.

Internals

This AEG has an 8mm Bearing Based Gearbox, 1 piece Metal Hop-up, M120 High Speed motor and Low Resistance Wiring with Deans Connectors. The supplied 7.2volt Crane Battery fires as if it were an 8.4 volt battery on a standard Type II bushings based AEG. I actually didn’t realize it was a 7.2 battery when first shot. I also shot with a 9.6 Nimh and the ROF was very fast.

FPS with .20 bbs was very consistent between 358fps – 360fps.

G&P – CQB/R AEX Edition Package

As of 08/2010, the sell price for these is $320 at AEX. If you price out all the included G&P products separately, this price is a good deal if these are the types of add-ons you plan on installing.

Tokyo Marui – Night Warrior

Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: Gas Blow Back
Date Acquired: 07/2010

Tokyo Marui – Night Warrior

The Tokyo Marui , Night Warrior is part of TM’s GBB Warrior Series. The Night Warrio is a Single Stack, 1911 frame similar to the TM M.E.U. but has the bolt on rail system of the TM Desert Warrior.

Tokyo Marui – Night Warrior

As with most TM GBB’s, the Night Warrior is a high quality build and is a great performer straight out of the box. Handles Green Gas no problem. Most parts are TM 1911 compatible/interchangeable.

Airsoft Extreme – AEMax SR-47

Manufacturer: Airsoft Extreme (U.S.A.)
Type: AEG

Airsoft Extreme – AEMax SR-47

This is a Custom Built Replica of the Knight’s Armament SR47 built by Airsoft Extreme. I outfitted this one to replicate the AR-47 used by Packy in the Cat Shit One Animated Series (See Below).

The real SR-47 was built to enable the use of AK-47 magazine and 7.62×39 ammunition to be fired from an AR-15 type of platform. Of course the airsoft version is just for looks, since it’s still firing 6mm bb’s.

The build is comprised of the following parts:

Airsoft Extreme – AEMax SR-47

The Hurricane SR-47 conversion kit was released a few years ago, and has since been discontinued. These SR-47’s are getting harder to find.

Externally the build is a solid full metal build. Details and build quality are very good. Unfortunately, there is a long known issue with the magazine catch on the Hurricane SR-47 conversion kit. The magazine latch isn’t the most positive in the locked position and by simply pushing the mag forward, may cause it to totally release. I’ve tested this with almost all brands of airsoft AK-47 magazines and have not run across a one to remedy this situation.

The Hurricane SR-47 conversion kit includes everything show below:

Magpul PTS – ACR Masada

Manufacturer: Magpul PTS (Hong Kong)
Type: AEG

Magpul PTS – ACR Masada

Spartan Imports was kind enough to send me a Magpul PTS – ACR Masada prototype to take a more in depth look at. Granted I only had it for a day, but it gave me a bit more time then I had at Shotshow 2010. There are still a few specifics that will not be covered here, waiting for confirmation on production model.

Magpul PTS – ACR Masada

The Magpul PTS – ACR Masada has an aluminum upper receiver with polymer based lower and furniture. A metal RIS, sliding stock and longer QD barrel assemblies will all be available upon product release. The PMAG pictured is 1 of my personal ones. Production Masadas will ship with a midcap PMAG with out PMAG Ranger Plate.

Magpul PTS – ACR Masada

The Masada is extremely easy to strip without the use of tools. All frame pins are body captured. The outer barrel assembly is QD (quick detachable) and includes inner and outer barrel, hop bucking and fake piston all in 1 unit. This will make barrel swap extremely fast.

Magpul PTS – ACR Masada

With this new type of QD barrel system, the hop-up is different from a normal AEG. The hop-up adjustment mechanism and nub are held captive in the upper receiver

Magpul PTS – ACR Masada

The charging handle locks back for access to the hop up mechanism and depressing the ambi bolt release in the front of the trigger guard closes the fake bolt.

Magpul PTS – ACR Masada

To the rear of the gearbox is quick change access to the gearbox spring. At this time we are working on a more in depth review focused on the Magpul PTS – ACR Masada gearbox, but we can confirm it has a caged motor.

Magpul PTS – ACR Masada

More info coming soon! Stay tuned!

Behind the DW Scenes – ACR Masada and my bored Kuma…

Received Production ACR Masada – 10/2010

Magpul PTS – ACR Masada

Just picked up the production ACR recently in the FDE (Flat Dark Earth) color. A very solid build as with the prototype.

1 issues I’ve had is it seems to only like the latest Magpul PTS PMAGs and EMAGs. I’ve been having issues where the original PTS PMAGs and normal M16 style airsoft magazines will not lock in place with the magazine release. If I hold the magazines in place, they will misfeed. Haven’t found a solution yet, but fortunately I have ample supply of the latest PTS Magazines.

I’ve switched the spring out a few times with the quick change spring function and it works as advertised.

Classic Army – LWRC PSD

Manufacturer: Classic Army (Hong Kong)
Type: AEG (Automatic Electric Gun)

Classic Army – LWRC PSD

Spartan Imports was kind enough to send me a working prototype of their soon to be released, Classic Army- LWRC PSD. This is a replica of the LWRC – PSD 6.8 Cal rifle in their MRE (Multi Region Earth) color.

Classic Army – LWRC PSD

The CA – LWRC PSD has an all metal lower and upper. The lower has the licensed trade stamped on the left side and a laser marked UID on the right. All marking on the upper are laser marked. The MRE color is darker and more brown then a Magpul FDE, but the color works well with most FDE, CB or Khaki accessories I’ve match it up with. CA has done a great job on this replica, even down to the fake short stroke piston.

Classic Army – LWRC PSD

The CA -LWRC PSD replica should be shipping with a Magpul PTS MOE Stock and Pistol Grip. Not sure yet on if it will ship with a PMAG or a 300 Round CA High Cap as the previous CA-LWRC M6 release. It will have the Troy Battle Sight style BUIS.

Classic Army – LWRC PSD

Internally this is a CA – ABS (Auto Blow Back System). It functions as advertised and this model averaged 340 fps. The PSD is rear wired for use with a stock tube compatible battery. I used a Firefox 11.1v 1200Mah battery with no issues.

Tokyo Marui – Desert Warrior 4.3

Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: Gas Blow Back
Date Acquired: 1/2010

Tokyo Marui – Desert Warrior 4.3

The Tokyo Marui , Desert Warrior 4.3 was loosley modeled after the Kimber Desert Warrior, but with some noticeable differences. This GBB is the shorter barrelled 4.3 and has a removable rail system. While it’s markings, OPS-Tactical are the same as the TM High Capa series, this is a single stack, 1911 frame similar to the TM M.E.U.

Tokyo Marui – Desert Warrior 4.3

As with most TM GBB’s, the Desert warrior is a high quality build and is a great performer straight out of the box. Handles Green Gas no problem. Most parts are TM 1911 compatible/interchangeable.

Tokyo Marui – CAR-15

Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: AEG (Automatic Electric Gun)
Date Acquired: 11/2009

Tokyo Marui – CAR-15

Been keeping my eye out for 1 of these TM CAR-15’s for years. Initially released in 1997, it is unique from other TM M16A1 based AEG’s due to the fore grip and butt stock.

The fore grip is a shortened version of the M16AI triangular grip and the butt stock. is a spring loaded, 2 position stock system.

Over the years, I’ve missed a few opportunities to own a TM CAR-15, but I eventually lucked out and found the previous owner took really good care of this specific AEG.
