G&P CA870 Handguard with T8 Tactical Light

Manufacturer: G&P (Hong Kong)
Type: Tactical Light

G&P CA870 Handguard with T8 Tactical Light

I've had great experience with all the lights systems G&P produces. My first was the G&P M3 which has worked well, even on real steel, for many years now. So xenon light wise, I was confident the T8 tactical Light system wouldn't disappoint. I was eager to see how G&P implemented their LED lights. Unfortunately the unit I received, the LED's were not functioning properly.

This system needs to be installed in conjunction with either the G&P Med/Long Front Barrel Sets. It adds more weight when installed and there's a noticeable foregrip wobble after installation. The light is pressure switched, momentary on only.

Allen over at WGC just emailed me the fix to the above mentioned problem.  You need to install the batteries "backwards" (Negative end of the batteries towards the bulb) and both swtiches and both sets of light work flawlessly…  Big props to WGC for their usual great customer service!

Classic Army M249 Upper R.I.S.

Manufacturer: Classic Army (Hong Kong)
Type: R.I.S.

Classic Army M249 Upper R.I.S.

To complete the MK46 Mod0 look ala Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, I added the Classic Army M249 Upper R.I.S. unit.

Classic Army M249 Upper R.I.S. "Closeup"

This is an all metal unit and very easy to install. A drawback is you need to remove the upper R.I.S. to remove the barrel. Another drawback being the added weight of the all metal R.I.S.

G&G SOPMOD “Clubfoot” stock

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: G&G
Type:
Stock

The G&G SOPMOD, "clubfoot" stock system is an addon I've been wanting to add to my M4-S for a while now. Since the Laylax Battery Sling, solved the battery placement problem, I was able to justify a stock that could never take a battery.

The build is mostly metal, except for the foam cheekrest and rubber buttpad. It adds a nice chunk of weight to the backend of the gun to help counter balance the front heaviness.

The install was EXTREMELY easy and the stock has very little wobble.

G&P Rebar Cutter Flash Hider

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: G&P

I wanted a more aggressive, different looking front end for my M4 S-System. The G&P "Rebar Cutter" type of flash hider.

G&P Rebar Cutter Style Flash Hider

This flash hider is all metal with a -14mm thread.  Great quality and goes well with my WA Doberman 😉

Proud Tactical Grip/Bipod

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Proud (Hong Kong)
Type: Grip/Bipod

Proud Tactical Grip/Bipod Retracted

One or the things I didn't like about my CA249P, is when you have the box mag attached, your fore grip feels awkward when you shoulder the weapon to aim. I thought an R.I.S. and vertical foregrip would be a perfect solution, but the M249 style bipod would have no place to go.

I then saw a product called the Grip-Pod and they used it on an M249 for just the same reason I was looking for! Downside is the Grip-Pod's are a bit pricey (About $150.00 and most places are on backorder.

Proud Tactical Grip/Bipod "Kachak" Extended

Leave it up to Hong Kong to come up with an airsoft version of this product, produced by "SOTech Vest knockoff" manufacturer Proud. This unit ids built out of a nylon reinforced plastic. which feels very sturdy. The bipod legs are spring loaded and with a push of a large button, the bipod legs deploy very fast with a satisfying "Kachak" sound.

Installed on CA249, Legs Retracted

This vertical grip is wider in diameter and longer then your usual vertical grip. With this installed on the CA249P it is very comfortable to shoulder aim even with the large box mag installed. Very easy to go from hip to shoulder fire and back. A simple push of the large button on the grip, "Kachak" bipod extended. To put legs back, simply squeeze together and push up into grip body until it locks in place.

G&G – G3 Upgrades: RIS Fore Grip, MSG-90 Stock

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: G&G (Taiwan)
Type: External AEG Upgrades

Added some external upgrades to my ol' G3/SG1

G&G RIS Foregrip:

Great Build! 100% Aluminum construction. No more creaky plastic foregrip! And to top all that it's G3/SG1 Bipod compatible!

G&G MSG-90 Stock:

I wanted to go with a different buttstock for my G3/SG1 mainly because I didn't like the sling setup on the original stock. The MSG-90 style stock has a beefier sling swivel on the bottom of the unit. No cheek rest means more goggle friendly. It's all molded plastic and has a cavernous battery compartment, and will fit a "normal" large 8.4 setup no problem sue to length. It will also fit custom shaped 9.6, 10.8 or 12v battery too. I did end up keeping the stock rubber buttpad off the original stock which to my suprise works on the G&G stock as well.

Chamelon-Japan, R.I.S. Coupler

{simplegrade:4}

Here's a neat little item I found by accident (I was actually searching for a Tactical Launcher RIS frame only). This is a R.I.S. Coupling Unit made by Chameleon- Japan.

This unit will let you attach something with a rail system to something else with a rail system. See pics below for some examples, but the types of combinations are pretty wild.

Tanio Koba, Hop Twist Barrels

{simplegrade:3}
Manufacturer: Tanio Koba (Japan)
Type: Inner Barrel

Tanio Koba – Hop Twist Barrel Advert

I purchased a KSC MK23 used, and it was in great need of repair/upgrade. One of the things I upgraded was a Zeke Metal Slide/Outer Barrel setup which I also bought second hand.

Tanio Koba – Hop Twist Barrel – "Rifling" Closeup

One thing I did learn about the Zeke Metal Barrel setup is there is no way to re-install the KSC hopup system.

Tanio Koba – Hop Twist Barrels

So thinking the Tanio Koba Hop Twist barrel was rifled I got 1 to solve my no hopup prob.? Well it didn't.. Made everything worse.? BB's fly EVERYWHERE.??My pals at First Factory ended up setting me straight.

Tanio Koba – Hop Twist Inner Barrel

Tanio Koba Hop Twist Barrels work. But they have to be used in conjunction with your Hop-Up ON and on sub 350 fps guns.

Your bb still backspins from the hop-up, and the twists in barrel act as an air "cushion" around the bb, "centering" it more down the barrel.? While it doesn't seem to add too much FPS, it does seem to make your bb's flight path more consistent. Over 350 fps guns, the sprialing air tends to effect the hop-ups backspin.

We've tested on TM M14's.? We kept the internals stock and just added the barrels.? Sample results on the M14 were a fps increase from 319 – 325 (Not that much more then stock).? But groupings of shots seems to be tighter.? We also tried on APS Type 96's, but they were harder to gauge since they are spring snipers, and you always seem to pull off target when cocking them.? Problem with running accuracy tests, is the are pretty subjective.

STAR – Special Forces Crane Stock

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Star Airsoft (Hong Kong)
Type: Stock

Special Forces Crane Stock with 9.6V 2000 Ni-CD Battery

I had a problem with my M4 R.I.S. and battery capacity a s many M4 owners do. I have owned both the Ready Mag and AN/PEQ solutions for my M4, but I was never happy with either solution. Then the Crane Stocks from various manufacturers started coming out last year and that peaked my interest.

Then I came across the STAR Crane Stock from WGC which has a different feature then other airsoft crane stocks in that you insert the battery from the rear. Other previous Crane Stocks, make you remove the stock to e replace the battery if you wire the battery down the stock tube. With the STAR version you simply depress 2 tabs and the rear butt plate releases and then batery pulls out. The other HUGE selling point was the STAR Crane Stock and 9.6v 2000MaH Battery cost $88.00.

I actually sent my M4 into AEX to get a Systema wire harness installed and asked them to take care of the wiring down the stock tube. (For some reason I couldn't open my Systema Metal Body… GAH)

The STAR Crane Stock itself is a pretty well built unit. There are some downsides though. The piston that holds the stock in postion on the stock tube wasn't secured well and would not lock in position. I fixed this by using a 4 1/2" X 3/8" X 5/8" polypropolene to fill a void to force the piston at a 90 degree angle and thus lock into place. (See images added at the end of this post) Less of an issue was the fact that when the battery is in the stock, it will not collapse all the way, but I think this should be a problem with most Crane style stocks that have batteries and wires in the stock tube.

STAR – Crane Stock – Showing how far it will collapse with batteries installed

But overall I feel this is a good solution. The stock works well with battery installed. It's a very comfortable stock and seems to offer a little more goggle clearance then the original stock. After getting used to the rear cap and battery replacement, it's done with relative ease. For the price it's a great deal and the fact you can carry a 9.6 2000mah bat is great! They make 9.6 3000Mah batteries for this stock, so your battery woes for M4 owners are over.

How it looks…

An Arnie’s user recently asked what I meant about the polypropelyne insert I made for the Crane Stocki wrote on earlier. Here area few pics of the insert:
