This year, DW Staffer Wedge was able to go up 1 day early and attend Media Day at the Range. This is the day you can actually fire offerings form most major firearms manufacturers. Picture and videos are trickling in. Will post as soon as they are processed.

Contour HD Camera
The Contour HD Camera is a POV (Point of View) camera system that shoots digital video up to 1080p HD. We’ve had access to this camera for a while, but never really used it due to the rail mounting system (see below).
The camera is easy to operate. There is 1 button for power and a large slide on top that can be used with gloves to start/stop videoing. It has no internal memory, so you will need a Micro SD Card for video storage. The largest card it takes is a 32GB.
The camera itself is of good build quality. Water resistant aluminum housing. It includes a nice 2 dot laser designation system which will help you line up the camera and let you know what rotation the cameras set to.
The multi directional microphone is a little problematic and is susceptible to wind noise. The rail mount (sold separately) is all plastic and basically friction fits the camera. The camera has lots of movement when fitted to the mount and not sure why they designed it this way especially if mounted to a high recoil firearm.

The Airsoft Innovations – GasCan Compact Filling Device was designed to carry propane from a larger tank, in a much more compact device, so you can refill in field.
This is a very straight forward device to use and well made for durability. Let’s you add silicon oil to the propane and has easy to follow ratios depending on what devices you refill.

Mil-Spec Monkey – CG Hat Deluxe
The MSM – CG (Cool Guy) Hat Deluxe is a Flexfit hat with an over abundance of tacticool loop velcro. Will accommodate most morale patches in most sizes.
What makes this hat deluxe and awesome, is the integrated ear plugs on retractable lanyards. You can use earplugs with tactical headsets as well for added hearing protection. Earplugs can be replaced with any screw on type of plugs.

Javelin Airsoft Works – AK74 EBB
Javelin Airsoft Works line of AEG’s are all EBB (Electric Blow Back), meaning the fake bolt will cycle during firing. This series includes battery charger and high capacity magazine.
This AEG has a real wood furniture and metal body. The Pistol Grip and Magazine are plastic which is similar to the real thing It takes a stick style battery, but the top cover has been modified to take a 9.6 volt and possible up to a 10.8 volt battery.
Chronograph results at around 420 fps with .20 bb’s.

Leatherman – MUT
I’ve been carrying a Leatherman Super Tool for almost 10 years now. Still works well. But when I saw the MUT at Shotshow 2010, it was a highly anticipated release for me.
Sufficed to say, as a multi tool it has a ton of functions. Below is the Shotshow 2010 video of the MUT, which is slightly more AR15 centric then the current marketing video.

Leatherman – MUT Compared with Super Tool (Circa 2001)
So far, the punch and cleaning rod adapters work well. They give an added leverage point when using my Otis cleaning tools. I like the fact the the cutter blades are replaceable. Very ingenious way they hold all the bits in 3 areas of the tool. 1 handed opening of knife blade is a nice improvement to early Leatherman tools. The MOLLE pouch is nice and holds the additional 1/2" and 3/8" wrench. But again, I’ve only had it a day. Will update more as I use more of the tools.

Javelin Airsoft Works – M4A1 Carbine EBB
Javelin Airsoft Works line of AEG’s are all EBB (Electric Blow Back), meaning the fake bolt will cycle during firing. This simulates firing a real assault rifle. This series includes battery charger and high capacity magazine.
The metal body makes for a solid build. It has a nice weight withour being overly heavy. The butt stock has a small storage compartment and mounting rail for lights/lasers or whatever.
This particular M4A1 chrono’d at around 370 fps with .20 bb’s.

A Magpul accessorized AEG in a budget friendly package. Being a CA Sportline Value Package, it includes battery, charger, sling and safety glasses. Even though the body is plastic, the AEG’s build feels solid.

FN-TPS Standard Configuration
These FN TPS’ were assembled by Scottsdale Gun Club and SGCUSA from the final parts that FNH USA built for the TPS shotgun product line.
Built to exceed every shooter’s expectations, the FN TPS comes with standard features other manufacturers consider optional. The FN Tactical Police Shotgun is a great crossover tool for those already trained in or accustomed to the M16 rifle family. This shotgun has the advantages of a FN Internal Tactical Choke (ITC), M1913 rail and adjustable stock that will adjust to fit most shooters, with or without body armor.

I can’t believe they shipped this with a Commercial size buffer tube… Luckily, Riflegear had a Mil-Spec Buffer Tube for p/u today.
I’m not a big fan of the Tacstar Side Saddles design. It’s a shame Mesa Tactical doesn’t offer any FN TPS saddles yet. Not sure how long I will keep it on.
