Retailer – Wargame Club (aka WGC) – Hong Kong

{simplegrade:5}

I have purchased many airsoft guns and accessories from Hong Kong and locally here in California. I have been very fortunate to have met an dealt with some great people and purchased some great airsoft products and services. In most cases Japan will not ship airsoft directly to the U.S. and precautions have to be made for Hong Kong retailers to sell to the U.S. because of U.S. Gun Control Laws and Manufacturer Copyrights.

Wargame Club
Location: Hong Kong

I have purchased 1 AEG from Wargame Club and many accessories:

Marui G3/SG1 (See review for more detailed info)

I ordered this gun from Wargame Club (WGC) and had them add; 450fps spring and gearbox upgrade. The upgrade they installed was wonderful and this gun has great accuracy and distance plus full auto capabilities. I added a Marui scope mount, HK Sling and Rubber Armored X40 Scope.
From the time I sent them funds via Paypal this rig arrived at my door in 5 working days. Very efficient service!

Currently this is how the rig looks

I have purchased a few airsoft weapons from Wargame Club and many accessories.

I have lost count of how many orders I have placed for accessories from WGC, but there have been many and each one gets to me in 2 to 3 days after sending them money. I now seem to place all my orders for airsoft accessories and replacement parts to WGC.

Their website is simple but easy to navigate for the amount of items they list, their shipping costs are very reasonable and have a very good selection of parts. They may not be the first to carry custom parts from Japan, but when they get them you can be sure they have them in stock. I have been able to repair many AEG's and Gas Guns due to the fact WGC offers all the spare parts needed.

Their email replies are prompt and pleasant and both pre and post service communication are good. They are also the most patient and reasonable of airsoft retailers. There has been more then 1 occasion where I needed to change an item in an order after I sent money and right before they shipped the product, but they were happy to help in all situations.

WGC offers alot of Custom Rigs with some interesting variants of AEGs. They also offer a great selection of beginners packages. They seem to be very sensitive to what people who play airsoft need. Although they don't offer the high ticket items like Den Trinity does, they seem to have a good mix of offerings to cover the beginner to the advanced airsoft player.

Edit 1/2007

I'm still purchasing regularly (almost monthly) from WGC. They haven't screwed up any orders at all. The end of 2006, they sent a nice Christmas suprise:

WGC Cap, Calendar and Mousepad

The WGC Cap and Mousepad are pretty self explanatory. The Calender is neat becasue they took pics from their customers around the world and added them to each month. WGC is a class act among airsoft retailers!

Retailer – Den Trinity – Hong Kong

{simplegrade:5}
Den Trinity
Hong Kong

I have purchased a few airsoft guns from Den Trinity and many accessories:

CL Custom Neo G3 Shorty

Based on a Marui MC51 but with a full stock modified to accept a 9.6 battery. (Although it says CL, meaning their ex airsoft gunsmith, Clarence Lai, he has parted ways from Den for some time now.)
Den Trinity installed a 400fps Spring and Gearbox upgrade as well. I added a G&G R.I.S. Foregrip, G&G Tactical Flashlight, a few High cap mags, Guarder Scope Mount and Gaurder 3 Point Sling. Later I added a 42mm Simmons Red Dot Scope, Flip top scope covers and Bushmaster R.I.S. Rail covers I purchased locally to finish this setup. This rig was inspired by a custom gun built by a local Airsoft Retailer, Airsoft Extreme but mine is the "budget" version since I could piece the parts I really wanted and omit some of the pricier ones. From the time I sent them funds via Paypal this rig arrived at my door in 7 working days. Very efficient service!

The performance of this rig is awesome. It cuts soda cans in half and is VERY accurate.

Currently this is how the rig looks

Marui AK47 Beita Spetnaz

Then I wanted to get a good CQB medium range weapon and thought of an MP5 based rig, but decided on the AK Beita Spetnaz for the reliability and accuracy of the stock gearbox. I have kept the internals stock and added a JUST Scope mount, Spetnaz Sling, Scorpion Tac Light and Walther Red Dot Scope. Since this was a stock setup, it only took about 3 working days to receive this rig.

I had the good fortune to visit Hong Kong and paid Den Trinity a visit. Even though I feel the prices on the website are reasonable, I was able to haggle down the prices on the list of accessories which include a P90 Silencer, Tactical Vest a few drop leg holsters batteries and bb's. Probably due to the fact I paid in Hong Kong Dollars. Their shop is small by U.S. standards, but full of products. They build many custom parts (i.e. AK47 metal bodies, reinforced gear boxes, etc.) and seem to be the first Airsoft shop to get new high profile items from Japan. Den's prices are inline with other Hong Kong retailers, but I did notice their shipping prices always tend to be higher (Sometimes by $10.00 to $20.00).

One downside is Nelson, the guy who runs the shop is rather rude.  It was better to deal with him over email to say the least.  Their email replies are prompt and to the point and both pre and post service communication are good.

Retailer – Red Wolf Airsoft – Hong Kong

{simplegrade:4}

RedWolf Airsoft
Location:
Hong Kong

I have purchased 1 AEG from Redwolf Airsoft and some accessories:

Marui M4 R.I.S.

I ordered this gun from RedWolf during one of the Special Promotions. It was VERY inexpensive and included shipping costs and discount on extra magazines, This was about 3 months after Marui released the M4 R.I.S. so I was eager to place this order. Added a Ready Mag System, M120 Spring and upgraded Gears, 9.6 1700Mah Ready Mag batteries, Systema M4 Metal Body, Bushmaster R.I.S. Shields, SAS 3 point Sling and Norinco Red Dot Scope with handle mount.

Currently this is how the rig looks

RedWolf's sales guy(s) are very helpful and they will carry some trick items from time to time. But there website is in some need of a shopping cart program. The have some nice reviews of airsoft products and a nice section for the "do it yourselfer". Also their prices are eon the high side compared to other Hong Kong retailers, but they will match prices. And as in the special deal I got on this M4, they sometimes have insane sales.

I ordered a Tokyo Maru M4 R.I.S. from RedWolf during one of the Special Promotions. It was VERY inexpensive and included shipping costs and discount on extra magazines, This was about 3 months after Marui released the M4 R.I.S. so I was eager to get this item.

The down side on this is my M4's gear box crapped out and plastic body broke a week after I received it. No fault on RedWolfs part, but emails went unanswered pertaining to this. (They used to have a 7 day return policy) but at that time they just partnered up with The QProject local to California and they tried to help me get this fixed for a discount. I chose to go with Airsoft Extreme though which are also local to me in that I trust them from past work, upgrades and repairs.

Their website is functional but a bit sluggish to load at times. It has a customer loyalty type of point system that lets you spend earned points on products at a later date.  The 1 part the implemented is fixed weight costs on all items adn they padded the weights a bit it seems. Shipping charges tend to be higher using this method.

Retailer – Airsoft Extreme – California, USA

{simplegrade:5}

I really can't say enough good things about this U.S. based retailer. Not only because of their direct support of this website, but their direct support of U.S. based airsoft in general. Airsoft is not a commodity for sale for AEX, they truly have passion for the hobby/sport with a huge emphasis on quality.

In the past, AEX has stopped selling certain airsoft manufacturers products, due solely to poor quality. They continue to sell the highest quality airsoft products and stand firmly behind all the products they sell with a 45 day warranty. AEX is always well stocked with high end airsoft products and their technical staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

AEX sponsors most major airsoft events/websites/publications and is one of the oldest U.S. based airsoft retailers.

AEX has 5 retail locations in CA, and a most triumphant website for your shopping pleasure.

Orig Review 2002

I have purchased many airsoft guns and accessories from Hong Kong and locally here in California. I have been very fortunate to have met an dealt with some great people and purchased some great airsoft products and services. Airsoft Extreme
Location:
California, USA

I have purchased my first AEG from Airsoft Extreme and many accessories:

Marui FN P90

This was my first AEG, and the guys at Airsoft Extreme were very patient and informative for me the first time buyer. I have added an P90 Silencer, East Sling. Other then that it\'s stock and VERY accurate and reliable. The red dot scope works well too unless your are wearing a full face mask during skirmishes but puts you right on target.

Currently this is how the rig looks like

Airsoft Extreme is a reliable, ultra honest, U.S. Based airsoft retailer.  The are one of the oldest U.S. Based airsoft retailers and now have 5 retail locations; Santa Clara, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Oakland, CA; Sacramento, CA; San Diego, CA.

My friend purchased my first AEG for me back in 2002.  The original TM P90 and  it has been working like new since it was first purchased.   Back then the guys were very patient with all of my questions and mind changing that you normally see with a first time AEG purchaser.

A few months later I purchased a TM M4 R.I.S. from a Hong Kong based retailer called Redwolf (RW has no business relation with AEX).  This M4 R.I.S. broke soon after I received it and even though Redwolf has a U.S. based retailer that was willing to look at the M4 called the Qproject,  I sent my broken M4 to AEX, since I remembered their high level of customer service.  I had AEX install a Systema Metal Body and M-120 spring and Gear Upgrade. I wanted to have them to also install a bunch of other upgrades (i.e. Metal Outer Barrel, Reinforced Gearbox, Etc).   They honestly answered that I didn't "need" anything else. This shocked me, but I really appreciated their honesty.  I have since used AEX for all airsoft repairs and complicated upgrades.

The down side is being a US based airsoft retailer, is the customer pays more then if purchased directly from a Hong Kong retailer. But you don't have to worry about customs seizing you gun and it's comforting to know AEX stands behind everything they sell which is not the type of service you receive from an overseas purchase.

Their email replies are prompt and pleasant and both pre and post service communication are good. AEX also offers many Custom Rigs with some interesting variants. They also offer a starter packages on most AEGs.

Tactical Flashlights

Tactical Lights – Updated

From left to right,
Recent Additions: AMP Tactical Light/Laser

These are not your typical Maglites. Just as "GearWhores" get addicted to ballistic nylon, the addiction to tactical electronics can be just as bad.

Are tactical flashlights useful for Airsoft rigs? Unless you play alot of CQB (Close Quarters Combat) or night skirmishes, they don't serve any function except making your rig look a little more tactical.

Tactical lights are special flashlights that typically use special highoutput camera type battery (CR123a) and ultra bright bulb assemblies. These give off much more light then a typical flashlight. But since they shine so brightly, they will only last about 1-2 hours of continuous use.

The tactical light world used to be the domain of the high output Xenon bulbs that gave our 65 – 120 lumens (A mini Maglite AA only gives off about 15 lumens, but will run for 5 hours continous).. The big players in the Xenon bulb world are Surefire, Streamlight and ITI. Xenon bulb based lights are bright enough to temporarily blind and disorient a person by impairing thier night-adapted vision. (Blackhawk makes a light called the Gladius that also has a strobe funtion to further disorient opponents). These lights come in 2 different varieties. The traditional handheld light and the weapon mounted light.

There has been huge progress in the high output LED based light world. These also use the CR123A high output lithium batteries and output around 30/100 lumens. LEDs are power-efficient, virtually impact and vibration proof, and can provide variable lumen output, but they are currently limited to a much lower maximum lumens output compared to incandescents and HIDs. Surefire, Streamlight, ITI and Inova are leaders in LED technology.

On to the lights!

{simplegrade:1}
Lamp: Xenon

The Maruzen MT-1 Weapon Light is an interesting weapon style light in that it includes 2 different mounting systems. This is a 6 volt version that uses 2x CR123a batteries. Unfortunatly the build wasn't very good and the plastic body warped due to the xenon bulbs heat.

Samurai S61
{simplegrade:1}
Lamp: Xenon
Surefire E2D Clone

The Samurai S61 is an machined aluminum body untilizing a high output xenon bulb. This is a 6 volt version that uses 2x CR123a batteries. The build is good and would hate to be on the recieving end of the "Meat Tenderizer" bezel. It has an click tail on/off switch and I also bought the pigtail tail cap but that part broke soon after intallation. Update 07/26/2006.  Rear tailcap switch is now broken.  Very shoddy workmanship. But I did find out it uses the G&P G60 lamp, which will work where ever a Surefire P60 will work.

Lamp: Xenon/LED

The Streamlight Twintask 2D is an machined aluminum body untilizing a high output xenon bulb an d2 high output LED's/. This is a 6 volt version that uses 2x CR123a batteries. It's a side click "xenon on/off" "led on/off" switch. This light is the best of both world high lumen xenon's when needed, low power consumption LEDs for battery life. At 1 point I had 2x 2D's and 3x 1D's.

G&P E3
{simplegrade:5}
Lamp: Xenon
Surefire
E1E-HA Clone

The G&P E3 is an aluminum body single cell light.. This is a 3 volt version that uses 1x CR123a batteries. It's a tail button on/off switch. It's a good light setup but because it's only 3 volt, it's not as bright as the others. This light is mounted in an ICS light mount with 3 more rails.

Nades, nades and more nades!

Nades, nades and more nades.

The airsoft launcher style grenades are typically gas powered and fire from single large slugs to multiple bb's (up to 180 bb models exist) at once. I had lost interest in airsoft grenade launchers due to the original Mosquito Molds grenade design. They are typically hard to reset, cannot take green gas and need to be carefully handled.

More Updated Collection Pic.

G36 Grenadiers 😉

Mosquito Molds, 24 BB, 6mm version
{simplegrade:3}
The Mosquito Molds 24BB 6mm version is one of the original style M203 type airsoft grenades. I've only fired it using HFC134A gas, since it being of Japanese origin and not wanting to replace o-rings if at all possible. This is built under the original ball bearing/spring/piston style which is sometimes tricky to reset.

UPDATE! Installed the Army Code 40mm Internal Upgrade Kit. Performance is awesome and my MM grenades can now take green gas. More info here.

Mosquito Molds, 18 BB, 8mm version
{simplegrade:3}
The Mosquito Molds 18BB 8mm uses a new piston then found in the inital M203 type airsoft grenades.

Mosquito Molds, 165 BB Shower
{simplegrade:3}
This is an awesome grenade with some serious pelting power. 165 bb's at once. The internal are based on the orginal MM internals with an updated piston.

Classic Army 24BB Grenade
{simplegrade:2}
This is Classic Army's take on the 40mm grenade. Extremely well designed and afforadable. It will take Green Gas with no problem and it's relatively easy to reset. Unfortunatley this nade started to malfunction (main valve won't close properly to hold gas) about 3 weeks after purchase.

Madbull 18BB Grenade
{simplegrade:5}
The Madbull 18BB Grenade takes green gas and is easy to reset. Extremely well designed.

VFC/GB-Tech Slug Type Grenade
{simplegrade:4}
The VFC/GB-Tech Slug Grenade fires a single 40mm rubber shell. It comes with 6 rubber projectiles. The projectiles are 2 piece are made of light rubber with a plastic carrier. This grenades internals allow for easy resetting. This is an extremely LOUD grenade when fired and the force is awesome. Unfortunately the main O-ring blew using green gas after only a few fills, but I've found local replacment o-rings.

Madbull Slug Grenade
{simplegrade:5}
The Madbull Slug Grenade fires a single 40mm rubber shell. This grenades internals allow for green gas use and is easy to reset. The rubbber projectile is very heavy and hits with a great deal of force. This is an extremely LOUD greande. Although AEX has these in stock, They are only for sale to Law Enforcement.

Mosquito Molds – PEQ-2 Mini Moscart Set

This is a 27mm grenade set. It's a unique and reliable design. More detailed info here.

Retailer – SKD Tactical – USA

{simplegrade:5}
www.skdtac.com
Highland Falls, NY

I placed about 8 orders in 2005 and 2 so far in 2006 with SKD.

  • Multicam BDU,s
    High Speed Gear Wasatch Plate Carrier
    and various pouch and accessory orders

If you've graduated past the high end "Gucci" airsoft bug, the Ballistic Nylon, "Gear Whore" addiction may be next.

SKD Tactical has the largest variety of authentic Crye Precision Multicam goods as well as great prices on Real tactical gear.  They do not sell "knock off" gear so  don't get "Sticker Shock" when viewing prices.  These are real items for use by Mil/LE/PMC.

All the accessories are top notch great quality items. I was suprised when I ordred a few Multicam ball caps that they were actually made by HSGI.

All order came when promised and the flat rate USPS Priority mail shipping was easy to track and easy on the pocket book.

Is this Gun/MFG/Accessory worth it?

Is this Gun/MFG/Accessory worth it?

Without knowing someones personal financial status and what they’re looking for in reliabilty/performance, it’s hard to answer a “worth it” it type of question. We have no idea what you can afford or what you are expecting when your purchase to judge if “GUN X” is worth your purchasing…

My buget for airsoft is pretty high, so things being worth it are relative to what I can spend. I’ve also purchased alot of items where I know they lack in performance, but they are decent replicas for a disply case. So what’s worth it for me, is not the same for anyone else.

So, instead of asking an open ended question like this. Do some research on your own. (Research does not equal posting your questions cuz your too lazy to google them) Ask specific questions of a specifc gun/mfg and state relative points like how much you are willing to spend, time frame of purchase, what kind of reliability/performance your expecting, etc.

Presently there’s TONS of airsoft info available to Google. Not so much, when alot of us first started airsoft, so this is why you get answers to this kinda quetions like “Search!”. If you do a little searching for info on your own in earnest, it will show in your post on what kind of questions you want answered. Should save the poster from being flamed and get a direct answer to your question.

If you really want to be lazy and not do any research though, contact any 1 of our local retailers and ask that same question. They actully get paid to answer questions like this. Keep in mind, most of us here are doing it for free, just to try and be helpful.

Retailer – Airsoftclan – Hong Kong

{simplegrade:3}
www.airsoftclan.com
Hong Kong

I've only made 1 purchase from airsoftclan.com back in 2003. A deal on a Sun Project M203 RIS with trades dremeled off. The deal actually came off an AirsoftPlayers.com classified ad.

The guy I dealt with was nice enough and a few weeks after paypaling him money, I received what was promised. (I'm really not sure why there was a delay unless they didn't actually have stock)

Airsoftclan's website is SLOW to load and it seems that it hasn't been updated in at least 6-8 months. A few broken links/missing pages. So for eye candy or new release information, there are many other better sites to view.

Overall they seem ok to deal with. They just don't seem to take the airsoft biz that seriously.Update 1/2007

Airsoftclan has updated their web shopping engine in 2006.  There seems to be many inaccuracies in their product postings though and I'm still not 100% confident with reordering from them at this time.
