RAP4- Land Warrior II Camera System

The rap4.com guys were kind enough to send over their latest Land Warrior II System Wireless Camera system. We have previously reviewed their Land Warrior Camera System in 2008.

The Unit itself is a self contained video camera system. Camera, 3.7v Li-Ion Battery and SD Card are contained in 1 water resistant unit. It also has a Mini USB and AV Out ports and comes with related cables. It can take up to a 16Gig Micro SD Card and can record in either 720×480 or 640×480 30 or 15 frames per second video modes. The camera has a built in 1.5: LCD Video screen, built in microphone and can take still shots. .

Contour HD Camera 1080p

Manufacturer: Contour (USA)
Type: POV Camera

Contour HD Camera

The Contour HD Camera is a POV (Point of View) camera system that shoots digital video up to 1080p HD. We’ve had access to this camera for a while, but never really used it due to the rail mounting system (see below).

The camera is easy to operate. There is 1 button for power and a large slide on top that can be used with gloves to start/stop videoing. It has no internal memory, so you will need a Micro SD Card for video storage. The largest card it takes is a 32GB.

The camera itself is of good build quality. Water resistant aluminum housing. It includes a nice 2 dot laser designation system which will help you line up the camera and let you know what rotation the cameras set to.

The multi directional microphone is a little problematic and is susceptible to wind noise. The rail mount (sold separately) is all plastic and basically friction fits the camera. The camera has lots of movement when fitted to the mount and not sure why they designed it this way especially if mounted to a high recoil firearm.

Xcortech – X3200 Chronograph

Manufacturer: Xcortech
Type: Chronograph

Xcortech – X3200 Chronograph

I already own 2 other Chronographs: The Combro CB625 and a Shooting Chrony Master F1. Both are fine chronographs and have various advantages over the other. But neither calculated RPS (Rounds Per Second).

The Xcortech – X3200, not only can calculates your bb’s velocity, but can also calculate RPS when firing in full auto. This is a good way to see how your batteries and gear ratios are setup in your AEG’s.

Some results of firing AEG’s with unmodified stock Internals. You can see how the CA M249 has a internal setup and has the same RPS running an 8.4 volt battery, as a 9.6 volt in a stock TM, M4 style AEG.

Xcortech – X3200 Chronograph

The unit itself is well built with a plastic body and aluminum "funnel". It’s comfortable to use with either a camera tripod, or held in hand. FPS readings are very similar and consistent with my other chronographs.

Operation is simple straight forward. PDF version of the X3200 manual is here.

Duratrax – Piranha and Onyx 230 Chargers

Manufacturer: Duratrax
Type: Battery Chargers and Related

I’ve gone through my fair share of chargers for airsoft batteries over the years. Had a few Radio Shack Wall Warts and TLP chargers. But my longest lasting, best performing charger has been my Duratrax Piranha.

Duratrax – Piranha
{simplegrade:5}

I’ve had my Duratrax Piranha Digital Peak Charger since 2004. It can save setting for up to 10 presets. and it’s a programmable for 6 different features:

Tailor operation to your specific battery types with these programmable features:
Feature Programmable Range
Battery Type NiCd, NiMH – 1-8 cells
Charge Current 0.1-5.0A
Battery Capacity 50-5000mAh
Peak Sensitivity 3-20mV
Trickle Current 0, 100, 200mA
Sounds 5

IIRC I purchased this for under $50.00 and has performed well since purchase.

Duratrax – Onyx 230 Advanced AC/DC Charger
{simplegrade:5}

I purchased the Duratrax Onyx 230 since it support LiPo, Li-Ion and LiFe battery charging. Most of this decision was based on the years of service my Duratrax Piranha has given me. It also has 10 programmable presets and a multitude of programming options.

Great Planes – Equinox LiPo Balancer

The Onyx 230 does not come with an onboard LiPo balancer. I went with the Equinox balancer from the recommendation of the distributor.

Will update this post with more info as I have more time with this Charger and Balancer combination.

RAP4 – Land Warrior Video Camera System

Manufacturer: RAP4
Type: Rail Mounted Camera System

RAP4- Land Warrior Camera System

The rap4.com guys were kind enough to send over 1 of their Land Warrior System Wireless Camera systems (LWSC).

The Unit itself is a self contained video camera system. Camera, AA Batteries and SD Card are contained in 1 water proof unit. It also has a Mini USB and AV Out ports and comes with related cables. It can take up to a 2Gig SD Card and can record 640×480 30frames per second video for about 1 hour of recording. The Camera also has a built in microphone.

The RAP4 LWSC can mount to any 20mm rail system. Rap4 also includes a universal barrel mount kit, for other applications. The unit can be physically rotated in the mount to record at the proper angle, or you can rotate the video later in your favorite video editing program.

The cameras controls are simple to use. But for initial setup I did need to reference the manual, but that holds true for me for most multi-function devices with limited buttons. When hooked up via Mini USB to your computer, the camera acts as an external storage device, giving you direct access to your avi files.

The video format this records in is avi (for lack of a more detailed explanation), so it should be readable/editable by numerous systems/software.

Plastix Plus – AR15 Rifle Stand

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Plastix Plus (USA)
Type: AR-15 Stand

Plastix Plus – AR15 Rifle Stand

Sometimes the best items are the simplest of builds. The Plastix Plus – AR15 is made from Polypropolene and is of an extremely simple design.

Plastix Plus – AR15 Rifle Stand

Stand fits in an AR15 magazine compatible magwell adn securely holds the rifle in place. This is perfect for display and maintenance. Works on real Armalites and airsoft versions (Keep in mind airsoft magwells are more shallow then real steel)

Guarder – Rifle Rack for Long Arms 2007 Version

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Guarder (Taiwan)
Type: Rifle Rack for Long Arms 2007 Version

Guarder – Rifle Rack for Long Arms 2007 Version

The Guarder Rifle Rack for Long Arms, 2007 Version, holds 6 Long Arms vertically. I chose this over locally built rifle racks due to its' simplicity and the deal I was able to get locally.

Guarder – Rifle Rack – Loaded

Evike imported these and put them on sale for $99.00. You get free ground shipping for orders over $100.00, so this became an easy decision for me. Most vertical rifle racks built and sold in the U.S. will cost you $90.00 + $35.00 for ground shipping. But on my specific order, Evike did not actually have any of these new in stock. But they did have a used, floor model that was slightly dented and they sold it to me for $85.00 plus free shipping.

Laylax Brick Target Sets

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Laylax/Satellite (Japan)
Type:
Target

These are cool, relatively cheap and fun. These are target diorama sets made out of foam for use as airsoft targets. 3 different sets are currently available.

These are DIY dioramas similar to legos in how they piece together , but manufactured out of flexible foam. When items are shot by an airsoft bb, they fall down or fly off the diorama. They can be setup in any way you choose or as shown in on the pacakging. The size and scale give you a forced perspective. making the targets look farther away when viewed through a scope. While not something you'd want to zero your scope on, none the less fun to plink away at the figures, structure or what not.

Warning! Anything over 350fps will damage the foam pieces.

The different kits are as follows:

Scene 1 -Structure-

Can be built up as a building with windows and openings.

Scene 2 -Nature-

Can be built up as a forest with trees, fences and other cover.

Scene 2 -Automobile-

Can be built up as a bus. Although the packaging may show more, this kit only contains the vehicle and 3 silhouettes.

Over all, fun and affordable. Really only good for realtively short range use with stock power guns.

Reaction Gunball Man

{simplegrade:3}
Type: Target

Reaction Gunbal Man.

It was one of those, "I'm placing an small Hong Kong Airsoft order, but I'd hate to waste the shipping charges, so add more stuff to teh order." type of buy. I had always been interested to get 1 of these just to check it out anyway.

When I received it I was suprised how small the unit actually is. The pictures on the websites don't give you somethign else in the picture to gauge the size (Although I just noticed WGC posted the height in mm) and for wahtever reason I jsut assumed it would be larger. It also attaches to the base with a pretty powerful magnet. KEEP THIS AWAY FROM YOUR COMPUTER EQUIPMENT!

Reaction Gunbal Man – Magazine and Pistol for size reference.

It's pretty fun to shoot at. It's actually somewhat challenging at 10 feet or more away. Full auto with an AEG makes the little guy "dance".

Classic Army Multi Tool

{simplegrade:3}
Manufacturer: Classic Army
Type: Misc

Bruiser over at AEX gave this to me. It's Classic Army's version of a Leatherman style tool.

Classic Army Multi Tool Closed

This seems to be a promotional item from CA. The build is OK, but the multi tool does include the socket drivers. Don't knwo how functional this tool will really be, but a nice item for a CA fanboy.
