FN P90 Reflex Ring Site

Manufacturer: Fabrique Nationale Herstal (USA)
Type: Holographic Reflex Sight

FN P90 Reflex Ring Site – Picture from Wikipedia

The early Real Steel, FN P90’s shipped with a White Ring Reflex Sight. It’s a holographic reflex sight with white rings and Black "T" reticle. This sight in non powered and uses and ambient light source to illuminate the reticle. Needless to say, this sight not very useful in low light situations.

FN P90 Reflex Ring Site – Comparison to TM – Left Side

So why get 1 of these Real Steel Ring Sights? Well to be different then all the TM P90’s with their Counter Strike Style red dots.

This is almost a virtual drop in replacement for the TM Red dot sight. You do have to file down a nub on the left side of the FN Sight, but no other mods other then that. You reuse the 2 TM Sight Mounting screws and the new sight is in.

FN P90 Reflex Ring Site – Comparison to TM – Right Side

You can find these for sale due to most Real P90 owners are swapping up to the Triple Rail or an easier to use sight system. FN has discontinued shipping P90’s with the White Rings for Black Rings sites, which are supposed to be easier to use.

This is a great add-on, to make your P90 stand out, and it’s nice you can swap out optics relatively easily if needed.

Classic Army- M16/SMG Magwell Adapter

{simplegrade:3}
Manufacturer: Classic Army
Type: Magwell Conversion

Classic Army- M16/SMG Magwell Adapter

The Classic Army – M16/SMG Magwell Adapter ships with both the Magwell adapter and 9mm style magazine. This is a 100 round UZI style magazine. The build is mostly plastic and is a very easy way to convert the look of your M4/M16. It is also a very affordable magwell conversion.

I would highly suggest you disable the M16 Magazine catch if you are used to releasing M16 mags. You will release both magazine and adapter with the M16 mag release. There is a separate mag release just for the SMG style magazine.

First Factory -P90 Sling Swivel, v.2

I ran the East P90 sling for many years, but recently I’ve only been using 1 point slings with all my other AEG’s, so this was a logical progression. The FF Sling Swivel is all metal construction with typical beautiful FF workmanship. Sling swivel has 2 mount points; left, right and bottom.

Manufacturer: Tango Down (U.S.A.)
Type: Vertical Foregrip

Tango Down BGV-QD Vertical Grip.

This is a HUGE improvement over the Tango Down – BGV-MK46 Vertical Grip.

The Quick Detach rail system is a welcome improvement on the TD Battle Grip series. The QD Mechanism itself is simple, yet effective, incorporating a nice positive locking system into the throw lever. No more "hammering" the BGV on for a "custom" fit.

Magpul PTS – PMAG 120 Round Midcap Magazine

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Magpul PTS
Type: Magazine

Magpul PTS – PMAG 120 Round Midcap Magazine

The Magpul PTS – PMAG is a 120 round midcap magazine, modeled after Magpul’s 30 round PMAG for Armalite style rifles.

Magpul PTS – PMAG Bottom Plate

The PMAG has an allen screw as well as a spring loaded button, which keeps the floor plate secure. I originally thought the allen screw also kept the magazine internals in place, but fortunately it doesn’t which accommodates the use of Real Steel PMAG Ranger Plates.

Magpul PTS – PMAG Upper

There is a pin, just below the feeder mechanism. I believe that this pin is what is securing the magazines internals, but will confirm later (I cannot find my armorers punch of that pin size right now)

Top Magpul PMAGs. Bottom Magpul PTS PMAGs

You’ll notice, while the PTS PMAGs resemble the Real Steel PMAGs, side by side comparison shows differences in dimension, design and material used.

Magpul PMAG Comparison

Magpul PMAG – Closeup of Trades

The build of the PTS PMAG is solid and as mentioned above, the PTS PMAGs use the real PMAG Ranger Plates. They are only held on by the spring loaded button when you replace the stock floor plate You do not need to use the allen screw.

Magpul PMAG PTS on: Magpul M4, CA SCAR, TM M4 S-System

So far, I’ve test fitted and fired the PTS PMAGs on all my AEG’s that take STANAG type magazines and a few in shop at AEX. Feeding has been flawless for far, but will have more detailed test results after this weekend.

I’ve seen posts of people bitching about the $32.00 price. To put it in perspective, if a person were to get a Real Steel PMAG for $17.00 avg street price. Add a $22.00 midcap with removable internals. Plus the time it would take to try and modify the Real PMAG enough to accept the midcap internals. You would be at $39.00 just for parts alone.

Following are reference pics.

TSI Armories – AK/M4 Magwell Adapter

{simplegrade:2}
Manufacturer: TSI Armories
Type: AK Magwell Adapter

TSI Armories – AK/M4 Magwell Adapter

The TSI Armories AK/M4 Magwell adapter, enables you to use M16 style, STANAG Magazines on your AK. It’s body is CNC aluminum with a CNC’d steel magazine release. Needless to say it’s a very solid, high quality build.

TSI Armories – AK/M4 Magwell Adapter

The adapter attaches to the AK as a regular AK magazine would. No complex installation and it’s ingenious design disables the AK magazine release, when a STANAG magazine is in use. It uses a simple, spring actuated, side magazine catch for the STANAG magazine.

TSI Armories – AK/M4 Magwell Adapter – Close up of STANAG Mag Catch

So far the TSI Magwell Adapter fit on a Tokyo Marui AK47 plastic body, G&P AK47 metal body and King Arms AK74 metal body. The magwell adapter adds a more "dead space" between the magazine and the hop-up, so expect to see 10 or so bb’s fall out during a mag change instead of the usual 5 or so.

TSI Armories – AK/M4 Magwell Adapter – Close up

The way the magazine sits within the magwell take a little getting used to. For me I found that inserting the magazine front side first, to make sure it seats on the feed nozzle. Then pivot the magazine toward the rear, to engage the mag catch.

I have tested it the magwell adapter with multiple STANAG style airsoft magazines. I had to file down the mag catch a little to work with more magazine types.

Magpul – XTM Rail Panels

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Magpul
Type: Rail Panels

Magpul – XTM Rail Panels

The Magpul – XTM Rail Panels are a low profile, easy to install, but will remain securely attached. Magpul’s description:

The new low-profile XTM? Rail Panels are a two-piece design that attaches anywhere on the rail without having to remove previously-mounted accessories. The combination of design and material used in the XTM? Panels ensures they will remain securely in place under all operating conditions, but may be easily removed using the tips of two rounds when necessary.

Magpul PTS – MIAD Ver 2, Full Kit (DE)

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Magpul PTS
Type: Grip

Magpul PTS – MIAD Ver 2, Full Kit (DE)

The Magpul PTS – MIAD Ver 2, Full Kit (Dark Earth) is an improved version of the original Magpul PTS MIAD and more closely replicate the real Magpul MIAD in backstrap interchangeability. This new MIAD includes the following:

  • 2x Grip Bodies with NON-REMOVABLE front panels
  • 3x Interchangeable Backstraps
  • 1x Polymer Advanced Trigger Guard
  • 1x Improved Motor Floor Plate

Magpul PTS – MIAD Ver 2. on CA SCAR

I still want to make sure and give props to my buddy SOA for being the first person I know to modify an original MIAD grip to work on a CA SCAR when they first released. But with the MIAD v.2, fitting was easy on a CA SCAR.

Magpul PTS – MIAD Ver 2. on TM M4 S-System

You’ll notice in the above pictures it looks as if I have 2 full MIAD v.2 grips setups. The MIAD v.2 does ship with 2 grip bodies, but only 1 motor floor plate. Luckily I had a spare original MIAD not being used and the original MIAD floor plate works on the MIAD v.2, but is cosmetically missing 2 side "wings".

Magpul PTS – MIAD v.2 grip body with MIAD v.1 floor plate

So, if you do happen to have a MIAD v.1, you could do the same and end up with 2 usable MIAD v.2.

Oakley – Basic Training Shoes (Desert)

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Oakley
Type: Footwear

Still keeping an eye out for the Merrel Sawtooth’s, I ran across these new Oakley Basic Training Shoes in Desert. These are also in the Oakley’s Tactical Field Gear, like my Flak Jacket Boots, but which is different from Oakley’s S.I. (Standard Issue) Military Line.

Oakley – Basic Training Shoes in Desert

Oakley’s propganda as follows:

When we engineered this performance tool, we looked past all the hyped-up claims of the industry, all the razzle-dazzle of bogus science and all the mutants on the market that pass for athletic shoes. We followed the physical training standards of the world?s most elite fighting units. Basic Training? is for those who cannot afford to compromise when performance is an absolute imperative.
What makes Basic Training? so different is the way it meshes with muscles in motion, supporting your bones and working with your anatomy, not against it. This design features a specially formulated midsole which stands up to the kind of pounding that crushes ordinary soles before your shoes even start to look worn. We even added moisture wicking in critical zones, so there?s nothing to distract your performance. If you?re serious about training, this is the level of technology you deserve.

  • Lightweight microfiber and synthetic leather for maximized comfort, durability and support
  • Versatile athletic performance in a rugged design that meets physical training standards of the world?s most elite fighting units
  • Specially formulated midsole of lightweight EVA for responsive, resilient shock absorption
  • Abrasion resistant rubber tread with balanced traction and low profile design for multi-terrain performance

Full Clip USA – Dump Pouch – Multicam

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Full Clip USA (USA)
Type: Ammo Dump Pouch

Full Clip USA –
Dump Pouch – Multicam

This is 1 of the neatest gear ideas I’ve seen in a while. I saw it a few months back in its’ "prototype" phase and am so happy to see them finally released. This is an AEX exclusive.

"So it looks like a Dino Egg in MC… What’s the deal?" ORCA said…

Full Clip USA – Dump Pouch – Multicam (Step 1)

With a pull on the easy to grasp middle webbing tab, and you will see both opposing zippers on each side unzip.

Full Clip USA – Dump Pouch – Multicam (Step 2)

You’ll now notice a good sized nylon bag unfurl.

Full Clip USA – Dump Pouch – Multicam (Step 3)

And voila! I lightweight, fast deploy, small footprint dump pouch. Genius! This is mounted on my Tactical Tailor Modular Padded Belt, but can easily be mounted on any PALS compatible webbing setup.

Bruiser @ AEX’s description (He’s a much better writer then I)

AEX introduces the new and highly unique Full Clip USA Dump Pouch. 100% Made in USA with authentic Multicam?.

The Full Clip USA Dump Pouch is a totally new, highly innovative, and unique design. When not in use, it is highly compact (only 7inches long by 2 inches wide) and takes up only 1 row of PALS webbing on a vest. To deploy, just pull down on the quick release tab and the 2 side zippers silently and stealthily opens to reveal a pouch with enough capacity to hold a 2 liter soda bottle or MANY spent magazines. There is a heavy duty reinforced grommet hole at the bottom of the pouch to allow sand or water to pour through and an elastic cinch band around the opening to allow you to secure what you are carrying in the dump pouch. When you don?t need it anymore, just roll up the pouch, fold it into the nylon clamshell, and pull up the zippers on both sides. Just make sure to expose the quick release tab at the top for rapid redeployment.

At this time these are only available at AEX.

I received a couple of questions on the dump pouch, from user Talon 0315 on Arnie’s.

Q – How many AR mags can the dump pouch hold panic-shoved?
A – Don’t know about "panic-shoved" but max capacity is 17-19. Hope that gives you an idea of how many in specific circumstances.

Full Clip USA – Dump Pouch – Loaded with 17, M16 style Magazines

Full Clip USA – Dump Pouch – Loaded with 17, M16 style Magazines. Note some magazines had Magpuls and these are all metal midcaps, so total weight was about 8 lbs of magazines.

Q – Did it come with MALICE clips?
A- No, it has an attached PALS strap. You can just tuck it away if you want to use MALICE or BHI Speed Clips no problem.

Q – How secure was the top of the deployed pouch – could you run around without fear of losing magazines?
A – Elastic drawstring and pressure fastener. Nothing should fall out when running around. But this will all depend on the situation.
