Laylax Brick Target Sets

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Laylax/Satellite (Japan)
Type:
Target

These are cool, relatively cheap and fun. These are target diorama sets made out of foam for use as airsoft targets. 3 different sets are currently available.

These are DIY dioramas similar to legos in how they piece together , but manufactured out of flexible foam. When items are shot by an airsoft bb, they fall down or fly off the diorama. They can be setup in any way you choose or as shown in on the pacakging. The size and scale give you a forced perspective. making the targets look farther away when viewed through a scope. While not something you'd want to zero your scope on, none the less fun to plink away at the figures, structure or what not.

Warning! Anything over 350fps will damage the foam pieces.

The different kits are as follows:

Scene 1 -Structure-

Can be built up as a building with windows and openings.

Scene 2 -Nature-

Can be built up as a forest with trees, fences and other cover.

Scene 2 -Automobile-

Can be built up as a bus. Although the packaging may show more, this kit only contains the vehicle and 3 silhouettes.

Over all, fun and affordable. Really only good for realtively short range use with stock power guns.

AMP Tactical – Tac Laser-Light

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: AMP Tactical
Type: Combo Tactical Light Laser.

Available at AEX!

?
AMP Tactical – Tac Laser-Light – Includes Light/Laser Module, Coiled Remote Switch (Pigtail), 2x CR123a Batteries, Allen Wrench.

The AMP Tactical – Tac Laser-Light is a close copy of the ITI (Insight Technologies) M6 Light/Laser, but with some added features. It has both a Xenon tactical weapon light and Class IIIa laser in a single unit.

?
AMP Tactical – Tac Laser-Light – Right Side showing rail pressure attachment.

The body is plastic with a spring loaded rail pressure attachment. The unit uses 2x CR123a lithium batteries (included)

?
AMP Tactical – Tac Laser-Light – Left Side.

Even though the body is plastic, the build quality is solid. Xenon bulbs give off alot of heat and the plastic body keeps this unit cool. With batteries install the unit has good weight.

?
AMP Tactical – Tac Laser-Light – Rear View showing controls.

It has an constant On/Off switch on the left rear of the unit. This switch is automatically disabled when the momentary On/Off coiled remote pigtail switch is attached. The bottom rear of the unit is the Mode Switch. When rotated it lets you select, OFF – LIGHT/LASER – LIGHT ONLY – LASER ONLY – OFF. There are also windage and elevation allen screws on the bottom of the unit to adjust the laser.

?
AMP Tactical – Tac Laser-Light -Top G&P M3 Light Bottom for size comparison.

As seen above, the unit is compact in size, but with almost the same power and added laser compared to the G&P M3 Weapon Light.

?
AMP Tactical – Tac Laser-Light -left. Surefire 6P – Middle. G&P M3 Light – Right.

The AMP Tactical – Tac Laser-Light kicks off?a littel less?Lumens as a real Surefire 6p (65 Lumens). Not sure on battery life so far with the added use of the laser though. Will post those finding later.

?
AMP Tactical – Tac Laser-Light Mounted with pigtail. Perfect for railed rifles.

The included coiled remote pigtail switch is a great added feature that the real ITI M6 doesn't have. This lets you mount the unit on any railed weapon giving you the freedom to use the switch where it's most comfortable.

Real Steel Testing!

Tested in indoor range this morning. Tested mounted on:

  • Kimber Warrior – .45ACP
  • SA XD 5" – .45ACP
  • S&W M&P – .40 S&W
  • Sig P226 – 9mm
  • Bushmaster Carbon 15 – 9mm
  • Berretta CX-4 9mm

The Light/Laser unit held up well. Laser position did not move due to recoil, always stayed on target. Light was not effected by recoil. Showed no signs of dimming or any electrical problems during firings.? There are no noticeable sings of wear when compared this unit to a "virgin" unit. Gun powder residue needs to be cleaned out though ;(

Edit 03/2007

Bulb burned out ;( Laser works fine.? Bulb bunred out due to me placing the unit in a pouch adn it rested on the power switch. Not a standard bulb so looking for replacement.

Ended up taking it back to AEX and they exchanged it for a new unit. Got lucky.

BlackHawk – HellStorm Fury Commando with Kevlar Gloves

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: BlackHawk (USA)
Type: Gloves

BlackHawk – HellStorm Fury Commando with Kevlar Gloves

I prefer these gloves over S.O.L.A.G. for 2 reasons:

  1. The don't turn my hands black.
  2. Short Cuff. Easy to wear with watch on.

Other then that, the same top notch quality and affordable pricing Blackhawk usually offers. Keep an eye out for BHI Clearance pricing in addition to the AEX/BHI discount. They can be combined! These gloves retailed for over $50.00, on sale for $18.00 with AEX discount

Tactical Vests

You can't really get into airsoft w/o getting some sort of tactical vest. Here's a few in my collection to date.

Manufacturer: Action
{simplegrade:4}
Type: Tactical Vest – Plate Carrier

Action ICE Plate Carrier SEP (TAN)

This Action ICE Plate Carrier is a replica of the Parcelete Armor HPV019H – Hard Plate Carrier with ATX0077 triple 5.56/Pistol Pouch.Very nice quality for the $65.00 price. Even came with 2 foam "armor plates"

Manufacturer: PROUD
{simplegrade:3}
Type: Tactical Vest – Plate Carrier

PROUD Convertible Plate Carrier (OD)

This PROUD Convertible Plate Carrier is a replica of the HSGI Wasatch Plate Carrier. It can carry 12, 5.56 magazines internally and allow for MOLLE style attachments. It can be used as a Plate Carrier/Chest Rig or can be worn separately. It's decent quality for a fraction of the HSGI cost.

Manufacturer: Mil-Spec
{simplegrade:2}
Type: Tactical Magazine Rig with Hydration Carrier

Mil-Spec Tactical Magazine Rig with Hydration (TAN)

This Mil-Spec Tactical Magazine Rig with Hydration is close to being a replica of the SO TEch Hellcat with Bib and Hydration Carrier. It can carry 6, 5.56 magazines internally and allow for MOLLE style attachments. It's OK quality for the $25.00 price.

Manufacturer: BlackHawk
{simplegrade:5}
Type: Chest Pouches .223

BlackHawk Chest Pouches .223 (OD)

Took advantage of a BlackHawk Closeout item plus the AEX/BHI discount. Rig carries 4, 5.56 mags in internal, bungee pouches. 3 pistol mags, radio pouch and 3 other velcro flapped pouches. Not a bad deal for $27.20. Regular price was $67.99.

Arms Magazine – Lady Chihiro

One of the reasons I prefer Arms magazine over other airsoft magazines, is for their tasteful use of female models. I know Arms magazine isn't widely available in outside of Japan, so… I feel less bad in scanning and posting LOL.

Recently ARMs has been featuring a lady, who not only is attractive, but also plays airsoft and paintball competitively. Her name is Lady Chihiro and is always pictured in some great tactical gear with some trick airsoft loadouts.

Reaction Gunball Man

{simplegrade:3}
Type: Target

Reaction Gunbal Man.

It was one of those, "I'm placing an small Hong Kong Airsoft order, but I'd hate to waste the shipping charges, so add more stuff to teh order." type of buy. I had always been interested to get 1 of these just to check it out anyway.

When I received it I was suprised how small the unit actually is. The pictures on the websites don't give you somethign else in the picture to gauge the size (Although I just noticed WGC posted the height in mm) and for wahtever reason I jsut assumed it would be larger. It also attaches to the base with a pretty powerful magnet. KEEP THIS AWAY FROM YOUR COMPUTER EQUIPMENT!

Reaction Gunbal Man – Magazine and Pistol for size reference.

It's pretty fun to shoot at. It's actually somewhat challenging at 10 feet or more away. Full auto with an AEG makes the little guy "dance".

G&P CA870 Handguard with T8 Tactical Light

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: G&P (Hong Kong)
Type: Tactical Light

G&P CA870 Handguard with T8 Tactical Light

I've had great experience with all the lights systems G&P produces. My first was the G&P M3 which has worked well, even on real steel, for many years now. So xenon light wise, I was confident the T8 tactical Light system wouldn't disappoint. I was eager to see how G&P implemented their LED lights. Unfortunately the unit I received, the LED's were not functioning properly.

This system needs to be installed in conjunction with either the G&P Med/Long Front Barrel Sets. It adds more weight when installed and there's a noticeable foregrip wobble after installation. The light is pressure switched, momentary on only.

G&P CA870 Handguard with T8 Tactical Light

Allen over at WGC just emailed me the fix to the above mentioned problem.  You need to install the batteries "backwards" (Negative end of the batteries towards the bulb) and both swtiches and both sets of light work flawlessly…  Big props to WGC for their usual great customer service!

First Factory – First Impact Catalog and 2nd DVD of 1st

First Factory – First Impact Catalog and Second DVD of First

I'm very fortuante to have some good friends in the airsoft community. One of my pals just got back form a Japan trip, where they vistied the legendary First Factory and brought me back copies of the First Factory, "First Impact Catalog" and the First Factory, "Second DVD on First", DVD.

First Factory, First Impact Catalog

This is First Factory's printed product catalog, and done in typical high end, Japanese style design and printing. It's 146 pages of full color goodness. Not only does it list the products, upgrades and services First Factory provides, but contains articles such as:

  • Info for begginer airsofters. Suggested loadouts, how to play, etc.
  • Info for experts . Suggested new high end gear.
  • Info on real tactical gear (i.e. Tactical Lights, Optics, Vests, BDU's, etc)
  • Diagrams on how airsoft guns work.
  • History of First Factory.
  • Explanation of First Factory internal upgrades.
  • "Combat School" Pistol Techniques.
  • Gallery of Anime gun mods.
  • Various First Factory marketing articles.

It's as if this was an ARMs magazine with more ads and less articles. But first class layout and design.

Second DVD on First

Second DVD on First – Front and Back cover

Just like the high quality First Impact catalog, the Second DVD on First DVD is a high production quality DVD. The content is basically a 45 minute airsoft infomercial, but it also includes reviews, howto's and real gun shooting.  It's a good view into the Japanese airsoft market.

They show one of their highly upgraded M16's (188m/s, 617f/s) shooting through the metal of a car door.

DVD contents include:

  • First's Complete Custom Gun Series
  • Comparison of upgrade work between First Factory and a Competitor
  • Handgun faceoff
  • Tactical gear review
  • Real gun shooting in Guam (RC car assassination)
  • And some bizarre other things lol.

Hope to have video samples of the DVD posted soon.

G&P – Special Forces Goggles

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: G&P (Hong Kong)
Type: Tactical Gear

The G&P Special Forces Goggles are copies of Oakley A-frame Goggle . I refer to these as Feauxkleys 😉 But for a copy, at $30.00 they're not a bad deal. Although I don't know how the lense on this goggle will actaully protect you.

G&P Special Forces Goggles

I'm not too sure why G&P copied the A-frame goggles over the actual E-frame goggles Oakley made for their SI (Standard Issue) Military/Tactical product line. Possibly the A-frame was already copied, not neccesarily for sale into the airsoft market, and G&P got a hold of the design. The G&P goggles doosn't compare to the real Oakley SI goggles. The quality of materials/build is very appearent and far superior on the real Oakleys.

G&P Special Forces Goggles and real Oakley SI Military Goggles

The G&P goggle is good for a spare set though. But even at more then half the price of the real Oakly A-frames, it's probably best to save up to get the real Oakleys.
