Magpul PTS – MOE Stock

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Magpul-PTS
Type: Stock

Magpul – M.O.E. Stock

The Magpul – PTS M.O.E. Stock, is a replica of Magpul’s new "Magpul Original Equipment" line.

MOE is Magpul?s newest line of firearm accessories. Intended to be a low-cost, high-quality alternative to standard weapon components, MOE will be offered to manufacturers as OEM equipment, and to individuals seeking Magpul quality in their basic equipment upgrades. The MOE? line distinguishes itself with a simplified feature set, but maintains Magpul engineering and material quality.

Magpul – MOE Stock

While the MOE stock resembles the CTR stock, it’s missing the friction lock and QD swivel attachment point. But the MOE stock comes with the rubber butt pad that’s an extra item to buy on the CTR stock.

Magpul – MOE Stock – Included Rubber Butt Pad

The fit was nice a tight on a Tokyo Marui Buffer Tube. So really no need for the friction lock of the CTR stock on this specific installation. The stock locks firmly in each position and has very positive fit to the buffer tube.

Ebaybanned – Standalone Grenade Launcher Pistol Frame

{simplegrade:3}
Manufacturer: Ebaybanned (China)
Type: Grenade Launcher
Date Acquired: 11/2008

Ebaybanned – Standalone Grenade Launcher Pistol Frame

Here was another "How can Ebaybanned sell things this low and include shipping" deals. $50 shipped International. It’s a mostly plastic frame system, but it makes for a nice Standalone Tactical M203. Added the following:

Ebaybanned – Standalone Grenade Launcher Pistol Frame

This came with an M16 A2 style pistol grip, but the finger nub and the trigger guard made for a very tight fit. A Magpul MIAD grip work perfectly as a replacement.

VFC – Tokyo Marui MEU Custom Parts Set

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: VFC (Taiwan)
Type: GBB Conversion Kit

VFC – Tokyo Marui MEU Custom Parts Set

NOTE: Work In Progress.. Just received kit. I’ve only been able to install the metal slide so far (see below). I thought info on the lower’s trademarks may be worth posting for now though.

I have just recently purchased a Tokyo Marui – MEU and was debating whether to purchase a Guarder Springfield TM 1911 Body Kit, or modify a Hi-Capa compatible slide. Luckily I received an email from Molly at VFC about their VFC – Tokyo Marui MEU Custom Parts Set. I found them for sale on WGC’s site, for a low price of $104.00 and figured, at worse case, I "may" have to do alot of filing and fitting.

VFC – Tokyo Marui MEU Trademark Close up

This is an all aluminum kit and is relatively light weight when compared to the Guarder 1911 kits. But the VFC does include an upgrade recoil spring. The trademarks on the lower are the exact same as on a TM 1911, these are not the same trademarks as on the MEU (Marines wouldn’t have something made marked U.S. Army). The slide have nice Springfield trades, logo, front slide cuts and I hope these will accommodate the TM Novak sites.

Metal Slide Install

So far I was able to transplant the MEU slide’s internals to the VFC Metal slide. You do have to do the Guarder notch cut on the nozzle assembly (see below), but everything else fit with only a little effort.

Only refer to the red part of what to cut. The MEU Nozzle assembly does does differ in looks from this

The sights need a little coaxing to install, but nothing a gunsmith plastic punch couldn’t easily remedy. The nice part of that is, the sights won’t be falling off. All other parts fit easily, The VFC metal slide on the stock MEU lower work need a little adjustment for the slide to cycle smoothly.

More updates to follow.

Classic Army- M16/SMG Magwell Adapter

{simplegrade:3}
Manufacturer: Classic Army
Type: Magwell Conversion

Classic Army- M16/SMG Magwell Adapter

The Classic Army – M16/SMG Magwell Adapter ships with both the Magwell adapter and 9mm style magazine. This is a 100 round UZI style magazine. The build is mostly plastic and is a very easy way to convert the look of your M4/M16. It is also a very affordable magwell conversion.

I would highly suggest you disable the M16 Magazine catch if you are used to releasing M16 mags. You will release both magazine and adapter with the M16 mag release. There is a separate mag release just for the SMG style magazine.

First Factory – P90 Sling Swivel, v.2

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: First Factory (Japan)
Type: Sling Swivel

First Factory -P90 Sling Swivel, v.2

I ran the East P90 sling for many years, but recently I’ve only been using 1 point slings with all my other AEG’s, so this was a logical progression. The FF Sling Swivel is all metal construction with typical beautiful FF workmanship. Sling swivel has 2 mount points; left, right and bottom.

Tango Down BGV-QD Vertical Grip

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Tango Down (U.S.A.)
Type: Vertical Foregrip

Tango Down BGV-QD Vertical Grip.

This is a HUGE improvement over the Tango Down – BGV-MK46 Vertical Grip.

The Quick Detach rail system is a welcome improvement on the TD Battle Grip series. The QD Mechanism itself is simple, yet effective, incorporating a nice positive locking system into the throw lever. No more "hammering" the BGV on for a "custom" fit.

TSI Armories – AK/M4 Magwell Adapter

{simplegrade:2}
Manufacturer: TSI Armories
Type: AK Magwell Adapter

TSI Armories – AK/M4 Magwell Adapter

The TSI Armories AK/M4 Magwell adapter, enables you to use M16 style, STANAG Magazines on your AK. It’s body is CNC aluminum with a CNC’d steel magazine release. Needless to say it’s a very solid, high quality build.

TSI Armories – AK/M4 Magwell Adapter

The adapter attaches to the AK as a regular AK magazine would. No complex installation and it’s ingenious design disables the AK magazine release, when a STANAG magazine is in use. It uses a simple, spring actuated, side magazine catch for the STANAG magazine.

TSI Armories – AK/M4 Magwell Adapter – Close up of STANAG Mag Catch

So far the TSI Magwell Adapter fit on a Tokyo Marui AK47 plastic body, G&P AK47 metal body and King Arms AK74 metal body. The magwell adapter adds a more "dead space" between the magazine and the hop-up, so expect to see 10 or so bb’s fall out during a mag change instead of the usual 5 or so.

TSI Armories – AK/M4 Magwell Adapter – Close up

The way the magazine sits within the magwell take a little getting used to. For me I found that inserting the magazine front side first, to make sure it seats on the feed nozzle. Then pivot the magazine toward the rear, to engage the mag catch.

I have tested it the magwell adapter with multiple STANAG style airsoft magazines. I had to file down the mag catch a little to work with more magazine types.

Magpul – XTM Rail Panels

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Magpul
Type: Rail Panels

Magpul – XTM Rail Panels

The Magpul – XTM Rail Panels are a low profile, easy to install, but will remain securely attached. Magpul’s description:

The new low-profile XTM? Rail Panels are a two-piece design that attaches anywhere on the rail without having to remove previously-mounted accessories. The combination of design and material used in the XTM? Panels ensures they will remain securely in place under all operating conditions, but may be easily removed using the tips of two rounds when necessary.

FDE XTM Rail arrived today. Upon more usage I am liking the XTM’s more an more.

Magpul PTS – MIAD Ver 2, Full Kit (DE)

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Magpul PTS
Type: Grip

Magpul PTS – MIAD Ver 2, Full Kit (DE)

The Magpul PTS – MIAD Ver 2, Full Kit (Dark Earth) is an improved version of the original Magpul PTS MIAD and more closely replicate the real Magpul MIAD in backstrap interchangeability. This new MIAD includes the following:

  • 2x Grip Bodies with NON-REMOVABLE front panels
  • 3x Interchangeable Backstraps
  • 1x Polymer Advanced Trigger Guard
  • 1x Improved Motor Floor Plate

Magpul PTS – MIAD Ver 2. on CA SCAR

I still want to make sure and give props to my buddy SOA for being the first person I know to modify an original MIAD grip to work on a CA SCAR when they first released. But with the MIAD v.2, fitting was easy on a CA SCAR.

Magpul PTS – MIAD Ver 2. on TM M4 S-System

You’ll notice in the above pictures it looks as if I have 2 full MIAD v.2 grips setups. The MIAD v.2 does ship with 2 grip bodies, but only 1 motor floor plate. Luckily I had a spare original MIAD not being used and the original MIAD floor plate works on the MIAD v.2, but is cosmetically missing 2 side "wings".

Magpul PTS – MIAD v.2 grip body with MIAD v.1 floor plate

So, if you do happen to have a MIAD v.1, you could do the same and end up with 2 usable MIAD v.2.

Magpul PTS – Metal Body (FDE)

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Magpul PTS
Type: Body Add-ons

Magpul PTS – Metal Body

I was fortunate to attend the 2008 Shotshow in Las Vegas and got to meet the Magpul people directly. Great guys and innovative affordable products. Of course my biggest interest was their Magpul PTS (Professional Training & Simulation Division, a.k.a. airsoft) product line.

Magpul PTS – Metal Body Installed with Fixins’

Items in these build include:

  • Magpul PTS – Metal Body (FDE)
  • Magpul PTS – MIAD Grip, 1st gen (FDE)
  • Magpul PTS – CTR Stock (FDE)
  • Magpul – Ladder Rail Covers (FDE)
  • Tango Down – Battle Grip (FDE)
  • King Arms – 13.5" MRF-RX R.A.S.
  • King Arms – Troy BUIS
  • Proud – KX3 (Tan)
  • Tokyo Marui – M4 Carbine New Version Internals
  • G&P – Ambi Magazine Release

The Pros
The body itself is a beautiful build. A slightly textured, tactile Flat Dark Earth coating. The body has clean fire control markings and unique serial number. All logos are stamped into the metal. The FDE color is close to other Magpul FDE components, but still not a dead on match due to materials being coated.

The Cons
I originally wanted to use a CA Sportline as the internals, but the CA Sportline gearbox shell, had a bit too much material in on the rear of the gearbox and thus would not fit. Body pin and trigger pin holes would not line up. I got another TM M4 Carbine (New Version) to use as this AEG’s internals. The TM gearbox needed to have a highpoint in the spine dremelled off, but it ended up fitting, but it was a very tight fit. The supplied dust cover would not close all the way when the gearbox was installed and fake internal bolt plate would bind the hopup in place. Luckily I had enough spare parts to fix these problems, but this wasn’t an "easy" body swap to say the least.
