Original SOE – Car Visor Cover Multicam

Manufacturer: Original S.O.E. Gear (USA)
Type: Tactical Gear

alt
Original SOE – Car Visor Cover Multicam

The Original SOE – Car Visor Cover is another nice add-on for an every day application. It’s a very simple design and can be considered a universal fit. It has a bunch of loop Velcro and PALs webbing for horizontal or vertical use. The neat part is OSOE used elastic bands for the webbing, so sliding non MOLLE things like pens, sunglasses, garage door remotes can be held in place by these elastic bands.

I’ve seen tons of posts on the SOE Facebook page asking, "Will it fit my car?". It will fit most cars and is very flexible in design. It measures 18.25" x 7" folded. The hook Velcro strips will let it fit larger visors and they are very flexible for placement

Mesa Tactical – Urbino Tactical Stock System for Remington Shotguns

Manufacturer: Mesa Tactical (USA)
Type: Tactical Gear

alt
Mesa Tactical – Urbino Tactical Stock System for Remington Shotguns. Cheek Riser model with option Limbsaver butt pad.

The Mesa Tactical – Urbino Tactical Stock System for Remington Shotguns (870, 1100 and 11-87) is a shorter 12.5" length of pull (LoP). This lends itself for use with vests and body armor. The Urbino system has modular accessories (i.e. Limbsaver buttstock, cheek riser, shotshell carriers, sling swivels, etc) that can be added depending on which model you get.

This stock system can be fitted to the Airsoft Maruzen CA870 series by either finding a long stock screw with the proper threading or re-cutting the thread of the screw that comes with the Urbino system.

alt
Original SOE – Beer Coozie

Another bomb proof, overly engineered, Original SOE build. It’s a Can Coozie, with added loop Velcro and PALs straps in Multicam. The interior is air mesh. It’ll keep your can cool… Literally and figuratively.

Tokyo Marui – PX4 Storm

Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: Gas Blow Back
Date Acquired: 08/2011

Tokyo Marui – PX4 Storm

The Tokyo Marui – PX4 is a replica of the Beretta PX4 Storm handgun. Tokyo Marui did an excellent job as usual in building this replica.

There are 2 additional backs traps included which accommodate smaller and larger hands. When the slide cycles back the outer barrel rotates just as with the real PX4. The rotating barrel is a neat concept for the real PX4, but is only for looks on the airsoft version.

The safety/decocker is functional. When put into safe, the hammer gets lowered to a non firing position. You have the option when turning the safety off to fire DA or cock the hammer manually for SA.

Tokyo Marui – PX4

As with all stock Tokyo Marui handguns, the slide is plastic. The magazine will handle green gas just fine, but you may want to switch to a metal slide if you plan on firing alot.

Crye Precision – Airframe Helmet Cover

Manufacturer: Crye Precision (USA)
Type: Helmet Cover

Crye Precision – Airframe Helmet Cover

The Crye Precision – Airframe Helmet Cover was designed to be used on their Airframe helmet system. But it also works on the Ops-Core FAST Base Jump Military Helmet series! It consists of Multicam mesh fabric and multiple Velcro attachment points. The use of mesh is good to not block ventilation holes in the helmet and it’s designed to attach vegetation for more concealment if wanted.

Javelin Airsoft Works – AK74 EBB

This review is for the Javelin Airsoft Works AK-74 EBB. This is a preliminary review that will be updated in the future.

I. Specifications

Here are the AEG’s specifications (which I stole from airsoftmonkey.com) ^-^

  • Metal / Wood furniture
  • Method of Operation: Electric Blowback (EBB)
  • Fire Control Selection: Safe-Semi-Full Auto Selectable
  • Caliber: 6mm
  • Battery Type: up to a 10.8v Stick NiMH Type *
  • Average Velocity: 420 feet per second * with 0.20g BBs
  • Cyclic Rate of Fire: 750-850 rounds per minute
  • Overall Length: 950mm
  • Weight: 3050g
  • Barrel Length: 460mm
  • Magazine Capacity: 500rd

* My AEG is utilizing a 9.6V stick type battery, and averaged 365FPS on a real steel and airsoft chronograph with .20 Javelin Competition Match Grade BBs.

II. First Impressions

I was pleasantly surprised upon opening the box. Everything was in place and securely packaged for easy removal (if you would like to share this experience there is an annoying 12 year old with ADHD on Youtube with a video). Chinese airsoft guns have obviously improved more in the past few years than their actual military has in a decade.

The AEG is solid with a slight textured metal, and real wood furniture. The pistol grip is made of a quality polymer and also has a very slight texture. I’m not a dendrologist so I can’t comment on the wood itself other than it is lightweight and has a decent coloring to it.
The AEG’s user should always check over any new airsoft gun for defects or loose fasteners before use. I found that my AEG’s buttstock and front sight base were slightly loose. The rifle became much more solid once these two items were snugged up.

III. AEG Operation

The Javelin Airsoft Works AK-74 with .20 BB’s averaged 365FPS on two different chronographs. The AEG has a fast rate of fire using a 9.6V battery, and the electronic blowback action worked without a hitch on both semi and full automatic firing modes. The EBB action is crisp and a fun feaure. This AEG is fairly loud due to the EBB function.

The battery (9.6V used) is installed by removing the dust cover and inserting it carefully into the rifle’s faux gas tube. The battery fits snugly and won’t slide out of place. The dust cover can then be reinstalled taking care not to snag any of the wiring.

Hop up is set using a push/pull type adjustment, and helps the rifle achieve fairly long range and accurate shots. I am interested to see how much better it could get with some simple hop up upgrades. The front and rear sights are also adjustable, but it is unlikely that the user will need to do so.

One high capacity magazine is included with the AEG. It works great, looks appropriate, and will be beneficial to a newer player who has not yet bought mid cap magazines (because everyone knows high caps are for newbs).

IV. Miscellaneous

The rifle actually has an AKM style stock instead of the Warsaw Pact length AK-74 stock. It is hollow with room for a few items, but the trapdoor on the butt stock’s plate is not functional.

The handguards remove very similarly to the real steel version and sit very tight once snugged up.

The muzzle brake is threaded on, but glued with a set screw. The entire front sight and brake assembly can be removed by loosening one screw. The cleaning rod is obviously non functional, and helps realign the front sight assembly for installation.

The dust cover does a wobble a bit, but that isn’t uncommon for airsoft and real steel AK variants.

Classic Army – AK Grenade Launcher

Manufacturer: Classic Army (Hong Kong)
Type: Grenade Launcher
Date Acquired: 08/2011

Classic Army – AK Grenade Launcher

The Classic Army – AK Grenade Launcher is a replica the Russian GP-30 Launcher with Quadrant Sight.. This launcher is a mostly metal build.

Classic Army – AK Grenade Launcher – Metal Quadrant Sight Assembly

The CA AK Launcher also comes with a dummy grenade "cap" which looks like the front end of a Russian 40mm grenade, so yo can use this launcher as a battery holder.

Classic Army – AK Grenade Launcher

I mounted the CA AK Launcher on a Javelin Airsoft Works AK74. It had some fitment issues due to the cleaning rod on the AK, being a much thicker diameter then on a CA or TM, but with a little work, it fit. It fires all 40mm grenades I own with no problem.

Magpul PTS – Masada ACR 11.5″ Barrel Set

Manufacturer: Magpul PTS (Hong Kong)

It is truly a quick change option. It took me longer to remove the railed fore grip than switch out the barrel.

As mentioned in previous reviews, the barrel is a complete assembly which includes inner Barrel and Hop up Packing.

G&P – Stoner U.S. Navy MK23 LMG

Manufacturer: G&P (Hong Kong)
Type: AEG

G&P – Stoner U.S. Navy MK23 LMG

The G&P – Stoner U.S. Navy MK23 LMG (Light Machine Gun) is a replica of the Stoner 63 LMG which was adopted by U.S. Navy SEAL units during the Vietnam war. For VN Airsoft fans, there’s now an LMG alternative to the M60 with the smaller form factor Stoner.

The G&P airsoft version is an impressive replica in external and internal build quality. The body, outer barrel, heat shield, sights , magazine cage and trigger are metal and furniture is a polymer. The battery compartment is in the stock and it’s setup to accepts Deans connector batteries. I’ve seen some retailers claiming a 9.6 large type battery will fit, but when putting an 8.4 large type, you feel it push out the inside of the polymer stock. Smaller format 9.6’s and 8 cell stick batteries will fit though.

G&P – Stoner U.S. Navy MK23 LMG

Internally it’s based on a Version 2 gearbox with 8mm bearings run by a G&P M120 High Speed motor. The box mag is electric and holds 1200 rounds. It’s powered by a 9 volt battery, but the auto wind switch is integrated with the Stoners trigger. Holding down the trigger for a few seconds will start the auto winder in the box mag. The feed mechanism is unique and is a top feed. Unfortunately this means it will only work with this box mag.

G&P – Stoner U.S. Navy MK23 LMG

Average fps with .20 bb’s is 372- 379 fps

I scanned the included installation flier and parts diagram here.
