VFC – MK13 MOD 0, EGLM Deluxe

The VFC – MK13 MOD 0, EGLM Deluxe is a replica of the FN SCAR EGLM (Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module). This deluxe version from VFC includes the following:

  • Quad Railed, Extended Butt stock Chassis
  • Leaf sight
  • Stand alone Trigger Module
  • 5.56 Trigger Module
  • 7.62 Trigger Module

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first. The VFC EGLM will NOT fit on a Classic Army SCAR. The CA SCAR’s lower rail teeth do not match VFC’s SCAR. We discovered this in 2008 when Star released their EGLM which works on VFC, but not CA. See here. Will be looking into finding a way to replace the CA SCAR’s lower rail to be compatible.

The good news… Like the VFC’s SCAR’s beautiful anodized upper receiver, the EGLM has an anodized aluminum upper quad rail system. The included leaf sight uses a Larue style mount, which you may need to adjust for fitment.

and CA Short M203 RIS on EBB Launcher Frame

The trigger modules are easy to change out. They all utilize a single captive pin, so no worries in loosing parts.

The EGLM worked flawlessly with Mosquito Molds, Madbull, CA and G&P 40mm grenades. The launcher tube release is spring loaded with a very crisp action. The sliding butt stock is only 1 position.

Another possible problem for skirmishers is the tube is too short to launch Nerf Rockets.

Big thanks to Ting at Rhino Airsoft for taking special care on sending this order.

Update 09/18/2009

Did a side by side comparison of the VFC and CA SCARs, to see what the difference was on the lower hand guard rails. Rail wise they use a matching rail system and teeth spacing. But the CA lower rail system is mounted about .25″ to front of where the VFC rail mounts. Thus causing the rail teeth to not line up. Only possible solution I have is to remove some rail teeth off the CA SCAR to make the VFC EGLM work properly.

Update 11/20/2009

Spartan Imports sent me down an extra lower rail for the CA SCAR-L. Even when I cut teeth off and shortened the length, the EGLM would still not fit like it should. You can mount the EGLM without the trigger modules though.

CAW – BG-15 Grenade Launcher

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Craft Apple Works (Japan)
Type: Grenade Launcher

CAW – BG-15 Grenade Launcher

The CAW – BG-15 Grenade Launcher is a replica of BG-15 Mukha, Russian Grenade Launcher. Real steel info here.

For a CAW Grenade Launcher, this version is suprisingly heavy and the build has more metal then past CAW builds. But the barrel is still plastic/resin as most CAW grenade launchers are. This is a muzzle loaded launcher.

It performs well, handling all the grenades I currently own. Still a bit awkward to muzzle load, especially on a full size AK.

Classic Army – AG36 Grenade Launcher

Manufacturer: Classic Army (Hong Kong)
Type: Grenade Launcher
Date Acquired: 09/2006

Classic Army – AG36 Grenade Launcher

The Classic Army – AG36 Grenade Launcher is a replica of HK's AG36 grenade launcher. Real steel info here. The CA version has an all metal barrel, folding quadrant sight system and includes a long G36 foregrip.

Classic Army – AG36 Grenade Launcher – Sites unfolded

Unfortunatley to mount on a Tokyo Marui G36c you need to modify some of the internal battery space and add a longer outer/inner barrel. I'm not even sure if you loose battery space with this specific foregrip and I'm assuming this is made for the CA G36 full size line.

Classic Army – AG36 Grenade Launcher
Side Loading, spring loaded.

Fortunately for me, I bought this nade launcher to modify as an XM320. The stand alone version of the AG36.

Will keep posting on progess of the modification.

Oh well.. I got lazy and mounted it to a G36 LOL!

ETREMELY front?heavy and ridiculously long now. This killed the ability to carry a battery in the foregrip Frown

I may go back to the XM320 project very soon.

CAW – HK69A1 Grenade Launcher

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Craft Apple Works (Japan)
Type: Grenade launcher
Date Acquired: 09/2006

CAW – HK69A1 Grenade Launcher

The Craft Apple Works, HK69A1 Grenade Launcher is a replica of HK's stand alone grenade launcher. Real steel info here. It is a well distributed grenade launcher in Europe and was in the 1998 movie Ronin.

Since I recently came across the slug type of grenade, and the technological advancements they have made in their design, I've been hooked back on the 40mm type gas grenades. Check out the Grenade Collection post. I also would rather have a standalone launcher then always having to pull my M4 or G36 out.

The CAW, HK69A1 is a typical, CAW build. Very accurate replica, but uses a lot plastic/abs. I've also noticed a the trigger is not setup to handle the newer generation of grenades with harder internal springs. To fire my Madbull Slug grenade, you need to squeeze the trigger a couple of times before it triggers the grenade. It's has no problem firing Mosquito Molds grenades, but unfortunately,?the new Classic Army grenade will not physically fit in this launcher (Too large in diameter).

CAW – HK69A1 Grenade Launcher, Stock and Sight extended

This unit includes a sliding stock and grenade elevation sights. It's spring loaded breech loading, but unlike the US M79, you cannot "flick" the barrel into a closed/loaded position.

Update 01/2007

Some newer nades made by Madbull, CA?or other Chinese mfgs, Have a hard time working with this launcher due to their harder piston springs.

Smokeys – AG36 Short Grenade Launcher

Smokeys – AG36 Short Grenade Launcher

The Smokeys – AG36 Grenade Launcher is a short version replica of HK's AG36 grenade launcher. Real steel info here.

This version is mostly plastic only the trigger, safety selector housing, rail clamp and plunger are metal. This is also odd in that it's a muzzle loaded even though my looks like it's side actuated.

But it performs well, handling all the grenades I currently own.

Mosquito Molds – PEQ-2 Mini Moscart Set

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Craft Apple Works/Mosquito Molds (Japan)
Type: Gas Grenade
Date Acquired: 05/2003

Mosquito Molds PEQ-2 Mini Moscart Set

Can someone really have too many nade launchers??? I think not!!!!

This is the Mosquito Molds PEQ-2 Mini Moscart Set. This set includes:

  • Launcher Housing PEQ-2 Design
  • 27mm 18rds Cartridge
  • 27mm 36rds Cartridge
  • 38mm Extension Inner Barrel
  • Sticker Set
  • Manual (Although my manual was missing)

Mosquito Molds PEQ-2 Mini Moscart Set Other Side

This system is built to resemble a PEQ-2 unit which I'm sure alot of you are familiar with. It's a bit larger then a Real Steel PEQ-4 unit, but for its' function, the added size is acceptable.

Mosquito Molds PEQ-2 Mini Moscart Set – Opened

The PEQ-2 unit is held together by 2 screws, that look like the adjustment dials on the top of the unit. Both nades are fired independently by 2 seperate triggers/push buttons and the entire unit must be opened to recharge or replace the nades. The unit must also be opened to access a third screw use to lock this system onto a 20mm rail. Be careful of cross threading.

Mosquito Molds PEQ-2 Mini Moscart Set

The nades are an 18 and 36 round, 27mm version. These are about half the size of the normal 40mm but with a much smaller gas capacity. MM did a great job on the design of these nades as opposed to the 165bb Moscarts in that they included a small hole in a retaining collar to assist on replacing those tiny metal ball bearings (All you Moscart guys know what I'm talking about).

While being very simple in design, the nades function well but with less range due to the smaller gas capacity. You still get a nice crisp "POP" and "Smoke"/Steam effect when fired though.

This new internal design will make changing things like o-rings much easier and not required a special tool.

Mosquito Molds PEQ-2 Mini Moscart Set – Size Comparison to the Stock M4 RIS "PEQ"

As mentioned above this unit is large. It's larger then an ICS AN-PEQ-2 battery pack I used to own. The 2 triggers on the rear are just simple spring loaded pushbuttons.

When fired the BB's travel in a straight grouping. The only noticeable "scatter" would be towards the end of the bb's power trajectory when wind pushes the bbs around (It was a windy day, more firing tests later). I haven't noticed a big difference yet between the nade with the barrel extender yet except less bb's fire.

Got Nades? (Friggin 14+ lbs M4…)

Is the unit worth buying? For large outdoor skirmishes the 40mm nades will work much better and you'll have more options. But I can see some fun with this unit in CQB. I think Sniperx mentioned something about adapting these to a gas shotgun, but I think the diameter will be too wide for that type of application at this time and smaller gas capacity of the nade may not make it possible with these specific nades.

Resetting the 27mm Grenades

I’ve run across a few reports over the years that these grenades are difficult to reset. Fortunately my set has always been easy to reset and have worked flawlessly since initial purchase. A few rules I use on these grenades, which may be why they keep working as good as new:

  1. These are Japanese manufactured grenades. They were built to use HFC134A* Gas and I have only filled and used HFC134A* Gas.
  2. After use and before storage, I liberally spray each grenade with silicon oil. I store these grenades with no gas.

Steps 1 use to reset these grenades:

27mm Grenade After Firing

Using a Pen Cap or
Like item, I depress the valve button on the bottom of the grenade. You don’t need to use any force, just push it in until it stops.

The valve button should have a gap after being reset.

Twist the base plate about 1/4 turn counter clockwise. You will hear/feel the valve button reset. DO NOT loosen too much. Turn the base plate clockwise to lock it in place. Just finger tight pressure.

You
grenade’s valve is now locked in place to hold gas. Proceed to fill from front fill valve. The gas reservoir is small, so it won’t take much to fill up.

* HFC134A is weaker then Green Gas and Propane. It is also harder to find in the U.S.

Sun Project – M203 Grenade Launcher, R.I.S. Version

{simplegrade:3}
Manufacturer: Sun Project (Japan)
Type: Grenade Launcher
Date Acquired: 09/2003

Sun Project – M203 Grenade Launcher, R.I.S. Version

The Sun Project – M203 Grenade Launcher, R.I.S. version is a replica based on the U.S. Military's M203. Real steel info here. This version is different from the normal M203 in that this attaches to any R.I.S. rail.

It's a decent build and when I purchased it, was the only M203 available for airsoft. It is breech loaded and take the standard 40mm airsoft grenade. The barrel and front grip are plastic, and with some of the newer more powerful grenades, the plastic barrel sometimes wan't to follow the bb's when fired.

The CAW Mini Launcher mounted on my Modified MC-51

Even though it's called a mini-launcher it is an impressive grenade launcher that will attach to almost any type of rail system. It is all metal and adds some weight to the rifle. It is very simple in design which is a plus out in the field. Compared to a stock M203 type launcher it would be about 1/4 the length, but will fire all airsoft 40mm grenades.

Closeup of the CAW Mini Launcher mounted on my Modified MC-51

The grenade i use are also made by CAW and are gas operated. The one I have are teh 6mm and 8mm versions which you can pack with 24 bbs and fire all 24 bbs at one at over 300fps. It's truly impressive to hear the bang and see the volley of bb's travle towards your target. In CQB (Close Quarters Combat) I would not want to be on the receiving end of one of these babies.

The CAW Mini Launcher with 6mm and 8mm Grenades

The simplicity of the CAW Mini Launcher makes loading and unloading of the grenade cartridges easy and fast.
