Tokyo Marui – Colt M4A1 Carbine BOYS Version

{simplegrade:3}
Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: EBB
Date Acquired: 12/2003

Size Comparison Shot: TM M4/R.I.S. AEG, TM Colt M4A1 Carbine BOYS Version

Just for the record!!! I bought this for my 30 year old younger bro for Xmas. He used to use my AEG's and break them so I thought i'd shame him a little by making him play with this one.

Well, I thought I'd never buy one of these, BUT it actually is a very fun airsoft gun to shoot. For $68.00 from WGC you really can't beat it for a select fire electric gun. Luckily I had a pretty large order with WGC and the added shipping cost was only a few bucks more.

A good review by Redwolf airsoft is here: http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/ReviewDetail?reviewID=81

Hmmm there's really no comparison to my M4 in weight, size or power. Th M4 BOYS is just as advertised. For Kiddies. But we found a good use for in-office skirmishes. My Akimbo G3Mini/EBB Desert Eagle against my bro and his M4BOYS.

Pros:

 • 68 bux for a 80% sized version of the M4 carbine. Could also be taken as a Con depending on what you're expecting of the rifle.
 • Good for indoor home/office skirmishing. Doesn't dent or penetrate drywall?
 • The "Shame" factor my bro felt when taking this to a skirmish. He has now bought his own AEG?
 • Hmm if I think of any more I'll add later…

Cons:

 • Well what do you expect for 68 bux? It's not even worth listing cons as compared to a regular AEG.
 • The High Cap mag is confusing as hell to prime with bb's. Just something to get used to I guess.

I guess if you compare this to a mini electric you have some neat features, adjustable hop-up and magazine loading, but in NO WAY should anyone think this is something to go to skirmish with against real AEG's.

Update 03/2007

With the demise in the U.S. by HKUSA stopping the import and sale of the G36, and the extreme modifications the Armalite family gets. Plus the appearance of all the tan colored guns. it was tiime to give the G36 some updated Flat Dark Earth mods:

TM G36 Desert Carbine

Added the following:

TM G36 Desert Carbine – The other side

I chose to be picky with the componenets I added in that they all needed to be Flat Dark Earth color instead of lighter color Sand or Tan. This limited me to the components I added, but I like the end result.

G36c Packaging

G36c Packaging Inside

As always to start off, Tokyo Marui does a wonderful job in their packaging and package design. The packaging of the G36c does not disappoint.

G36c / Modified MC51, Size Comparison

One thing to note. The G36 Series si teh replacement to the HK Classic G3 line of battle rifles. My modified MC51 with full stock can be considered the Commando/Compact version of the G3 series and the "C" in G36c stands for *Commando/Compact as well. Another thing to note. the next generation of U.S. battle rifle will be made by HK called the OICW (Click Here for more info on the OICW) The lower end of the OICW is a G36k. Since the G36 series is based around the NATO 5.56 round the rifle frame is comparable to the M4/M16. The G3 line was based around the 7.62 x 51 or 308 cal round and thus a larger framed rifle.

G36c

The G36c is a very well built Airsoft replica. Very solid from stock to barrel. My first impression was it was a bit too small and comparable to the MP5 line of SMG's, but the G36c takes the best of a full sized rifle in Magazine and the High Cap mags will carry 470 rounds of ammo. The mags are now designed to snap together so you can stack as many mags as "makes sense". The Standard G36 mags have fake bullets (The Standard P90 mags do as well) inside them which make the unit look very impressive.

G36c Stock Folded

The compact size of the G36c with the stock folded is quite impressive. Although I personally like to shoulder my rifles when firing, this does add some benefits in CQB (Close Quarters Combat)

G36c Foregrip Closeup

The small 8.4 600Mah battery sits within the foregrip and it only takes the removal of 1 large pin to access. Space is limited in the foregrip, but I have already seen modified batteries for the G36c to fit in this space with some foregrip modification. The rails on the G36c are all metal and will accomodate any 20mm mounting system. This lower rail is very strong, ulike the AK47 Spetnaz, and easily held my CAW mini Launcher.

G36c Folding Stock Closeup

There is 1 large button to depress to fold the stock. The size of the button is helpful if you are wearing Flight or CVC gloves. The stock folds to the right and locks to teh body of the rifle. Simply pull the stock off the retaining clip to move it back into the unfolded position.

G36c Fire Control Selector and Std Mag Closeup

The Fire Selector is very positive and ambidextrous. Unlike the TM G3's this firing slector is very easy to operate and locks into position.

G36c (1 more and I can go Akimbo!!!)

Overall I am VERY impressed with the TM G36c in the detail and quality of workmanship. Anothr major thing of note is, the G36c manual states that the G36c uses the EG-1000s motor with a Gen 3 gearbox. I have yet to confirm either by stripping the gun but the diagrams in the manual state this. I can confirm that this rifle shoots about 290 fps out of the box as compared to a normal 275 fps for a stock AEG. The ROF and FPS are pretty impressive for a stock AEG.

Upgrade??? Of course. I just ordered a reddot scope, cantelevered scope mount, assault rifle bag and 3 point sling… Will add more pics when they get in. I will be waiting to upgrade the gearbox when more options in batteries get released for the G36c. 02-20-2004 Added M100 Spring and new GearSet.

Tokyo Marui – HK G3/SG1

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: AEG (Automatic Electric Gun)
Date Acquired: 01/2002

Well, I've negelected my poor G3/SG1 long enough… This guns internals are still as good as new so the only things left for me to do was add external upgrades.

Added some external upgrades to my ol' G3/SG1

This gun now includes the following:

 • WGC Marui AEG's 450 Standard Upgrade Plan II
 • G&G RIS Foregrip (Yes! It's G3/SG1 Bipod Compatible)
 • Bushmaster RIS Covers
 • Marui Knight's Vertical Grip
 • G&G MSG-90 Stock
 • Leapers 3-9X40 Rubber Armored Full Size Scope
 • Guarder HK Scope Mount
 • Butler Creek Fliptop Scope Covers
 • HK Sling
 • Bushmaster Hard Rifle Case

I wanted to get a sniper rifle. Something I could mount a big scope and upgrade the gearbox and srping to fire as far as possible, while still retaining full auto capabilities. I ordered this rig from Wargameclub and had the follwoing installed:

 • Marui AEG's 450 Standard Upgrade Plan II

Currently this is how the rig looks

This rig is great for sniping and long range fire support with it's full auto capabilites. With the upgraded gearbox I shoot much heavier bb's which adds to the bb's flight stability. The hopup works great and the integrated bipod works well. Future upgrade would be to add a more accurate inner barrel and possibly a G&G R.I.S. foregrip.

Tokyo Marui – M1A1 Thompson

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: AEG
Date Acquired: 04/2003

This gun came originally from our friend Guinness who sold it to another of our friends Stangman, but now it is owned by me. Below is Stang's review of the Thompson.

LITTLE HISTORY:

When the box arrived at my house I picked it up and since I've never held a airsoft gun before I didnt' know how heavy the box would be, but wow this thing had some weight to it. So I take it in my room cut open the whole roll of packing tape that my buddy Guinness put on there (guy I bought it from), and low and behold a BadAss M1A1 sitting right in the box just aching to be used and abused. The only problem was I didn't have any BBs…DOH!

Ok so the BBs finally arrive, and I charge up the battery, fill up my hi-cap and go into my backyard. So whats the first thing i do when i get out there? Ya you guessed it…FULL AUTO.

After I finished coating my backyard with little white BBs I decided to go get my friend to shoot me in the back a few times to see what it feels like, and as you probly know they dont hurt as much as paintballs but they do sting alittle. So enough with this boring crap you've been reading onto the good stuff.

PROS:
1) no wobbles at all, just be sure to keep the screws tight
2) wood looks(and to me feels) real
3) nearly real weight(feels like you could drop it from 100stories up and it wouldn't break)
4) fairly accurate for how short the inner barrel is.
5) feels very well balanced

CONS:
1) From what i've heard its a tight fit for the internals so it makes it alittle more difficult to upgrade.
2) If you are a girly man, this might be alittle heavy for you
3) the selector switches feel like you can break them off if you give it a good tug in the wrong direction

STUFF THATS NOT A PRO OR A CON (well maybe a few can if you think of it a certain way):
When going from full auto to single shot it will do 2-3rnd burst for 2 trigger pulls then it will go to single shot. (i dont know if this is normal or if something is wrong)

I chronoed the gun it is 270(+-5fps).

The clip goes in nice and smooth. When its in there its not coming out, no wobble at all, unless you release the latch (DUH).

Cocking slide that slides open…WEEEE!!! even though it does nothing its interesting, it feels kinda flimsy(even though it is metal) so i usually leave it alone

this review is subject to change when i play with it alittle more

Tokyo Marui – HK MC-51 Custom – DEN Custom Neo G3 Shorty

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: AEG (Automatic Electric Gun)
Date Acquired: 03/2002?

Based on a Marui MC51 but with a full stock modified to accept a 9.6 battery. The DEN Custom Neo G3 Shorty….

This rig was inspired by a custom gun built by a local Airsoft Retailer, Airsoft Extreme but mine is the "budget" version since I could piece the parts I really wanted and omit some of the pricier ones.

 1. 400fps Spring and Gearbox upgrade
 2. Marui G3 Full Stock Modified for 9.6 Battery
 3. G&G R.I.S. Foregrip
 4. Guarder Scope Mount
 5. Simmons 42mm Red Dot Scope
 6. Guarder Scope Mount
 7. Butler Creek Fliptop Scope Covers
 8. Bushmaster R.I.S. Shields
 9. Guarder 3 Point Sling

Currently this is how the rig looks

This rig is my favorite at this time. It is very accurate and will cut a soda can in half. The G&G foregrip make this rig very rigid. It's a large framed rifle so it feels very substantial when held, but the weight is light (Good for all day skirmishes). The hop up unit is great (same on as in the G3/SG1) and this rig is a pleasure to fire.

As of Aug, 2006, this AEG is still in "like new" operating condition since it's 2002 original purchase/build.

Tokyo Marui – AK Beita Spetsnaz

{simplegrade:4}
Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: AEG (Automatic Electric Gun)
Date Acquired: 04/2002

Tokyo Marui – AK Beita Spetsnaz

I chose the AK Beita Spetsnaz for a CQB (Close Quater Combat) role. I was debating getting this or an MP5 based AEG, but the AK won due to its' greater accuracy and reliabilty. This is because of the design of Tokyo Marui's AK line of AEGs. Because of this design, I did not upgrade the gearbox yet, but did add the following:

 • Just AK47 Scope Mount
 • Walther Red Dot Scope
 • East Beta Sling

Currently this is how the rig looks

The performance of this rig is rock solid like it's real steel conter part (BTW I own a Norinco AK47 too). This AEG has the most metal parts I've ever seen. It's weight is solid, but the stock is a bit short (Typical problem on real AK's). With the red dot scope it's very easy to aquire a target and the small rail on the foregrip accomodates a tac light.

There is no Real Steel version of the AK Beita Spetsnaz. This was a self admitted, Tokyo Marui invention.

Tokyo Marui – Colt M4/R.I.S.

{simplegrade:3}
Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: AEG (Automatic Electric Gun)
Date Acquired: 12/2001

Tokyo Marui – M4 R.I.S. 2007

I ordered this gun from RedWolf Airsoft during one of their Special Promotions back in 12/2001 . It was VERY good deal at the time and included shipping costs and discount on extra magazines ($227.00) This was about 3 months after Marui released the M4 R.I.S. so I was eager to place this order.

The down side on this is my M4's gear box crapped out and plastic body broke a week after I received it. No fault on RedWolfs part, but emails went unanswered pertaining to this. (They used to have a 7 day return policy) but at that time they just partnered up with The QProject local to California and they tried to help me get this fixed for a discount. I chose to go with Airsoft Extreme though which are also local to me in that I trust them from past work, upgrades and repairs. Thus the need for the metal body and gearbox upgrade.

This Airsoft rig now weighs the same as a loaded M4. About 8lbs. It may even be heavier with all the goodies loaded on it. I opted for the carry handle scope mount to keep the iron sights. It is a reliable rig and with the current setup, is good for medium range. Some issues I still have are the way the hopup adjustment works. Seems to be either on or off.

Current add-on/upgrades installed::

Tokyo Marui – FN P90

{simplegrade:5}
Manufacturer: Tokyo Marui (Japan)
Type: AEG (Automatic Electric Gun)
Date Acquired: 05/2001

Tokyo Marui – P90

This was the first decent quality airsoft gun I acquired. A good friend of mine actually bought it for me from AEX so it's that much more special. I have kept everything stock on it except adding an AS P90 Silencer and East P90 Sling. The details on this AEG are great. There are even have fake bullets in the low cap magazine. It includes an integrated red dot scope and my friends and I have found the P90 to be very accurate (We were shooting the petals off a daisy at 20').

The way that the scope is mounted does have some limitations if you wear a full face mask though. It has a good R.O.F. (rate of fire) due to the EG1000 motor that comes standard. The firing selector switch works well and you can easily switch from semi auto to full auto.

ORCA's P90

The silencer really works and "FN Project 90" is printed on the side. The East sling is simple, works well and very affordable.

The P90 is and odd looking rig, and takes a little getting used to carrying. But it fits the bill in being smaller then a collapsed MP5, but having a longer barrel for accuracy and a shoulder stock that is always at the ready.

ORCA's P90

When people ask me what the best quality AEG is I without hesitation say Tokyo Marui. Not only because they are the originator of the AEG, and are the most copied. But for the simple fact my P90 has been running the same since 2001. Tokyo Marui is a bonfide toy company in Japan. Their quality has to be top notch to have done well in the Japanese toy/hobby market for so long. (See a TM commercial from way back in 1991)

The P90 by far is the most shot AEG in my collection due to most non airsoft peeps not knowing what it is and curious to shoot. The TM P90 has never disappointed and mine has been the cause of a few of my friends dumping some major money into airsoft.
